Why does kitchen sink drain water from drain side to garbage disposal side
My double-sided kitchen sink drains from one sink to the other and vice-versa. I've already paid $225 to have the drain cleared. Is this a garbage disposal issue?
It must be really frustrating to have one sink drain to the other when you've already paid over $200 to clear the drain. My double kitchen sink is doing the same thing, except sometimes it will drain when I turn the garbage disposal on. I don't know about you, but I'm going to call an emergency plumber because the smell is unbearable! I hope you find a solution to your problem. http://www.samslocalplumbing.com.auIt must be really frustrating to have one sink drain to the other when you've already paid over $200 to clear the drain. The two drains are connected, but below the disposal. Likely if it's not draining down, you still have a clog, and the person the "cleared" the drain didn't.

Try running ice cubes through it, it will make a lot of noise but that should clean it out. Please slowly run the cold water with the ice.
I do not like chemicals if they can be avoided. d
Once a week or so turn the tap on at the sink and turn the disposer on. Then drop a cup of ice in the disposer. The ice will remove any grime and build up and the water will wash it all down the drain.
It should have come with a Allen wrench. Be sure it is off. Insert it in the bottom into the center hole. Move it back and forth several times until it frees up. Remove wrench and try, you may have to do this several times. Also be sure the unit is reset before turning on. If it does nothing nor makes nay noise it is probably tripped.
Does the other side of the sink drain? Are you sure it's the disposal thats plugged? If the disposal is plugged you can turn it on and plunge it a few times and see if that makes a difference.
can you turn it on for me? I would like to see and hear whats going on to better help diagnose, more than likely the "blade" that spins has detached from the disposal motor assembly or the "blade" my be caught/stuck in place, to resolve this issue. Unplug the disposal(should be plugged in under the sink)Grab a bucket to place under sink to catch waterremove the sink pipe assembly+disposal (remove the disposal)the water should drain into the bucket from the sink.remove and clean the disposal trap, looking for obstructions while you do so.after cleaning and searching for obstruction, reassemble the unit as it was making sure to reinstall all washers, guards and bolts, after you reassemble the unit plug it back in and test it, if you get the same results then there may be a strong possibility the unit suffers from a defect or damage in which case you may need to replace the whole unit or just part it all depends... good luck... more question just ask
