We have an approx. 10 year old Frigidaire PureSource fridge model FRS23R4CW2. For the last several days there has been a small stream of brown liquid dripping down the fridge from under the "frame" of the the ice and water dispenser. If you push on the tray, like where you would sit a cup to fill it with water, a small amount of brown liquid comes in the tray, but most of it drips from underneath the frame, down the fridge, to the floor. As far as I know, it's still freezing fine and the the water and ice work. Any ideas?
SOURCE: Water keeps dripping after it dispenses water thru the door
When you push the button, the CLICK you hear when the water flows is the Water delivery solenoid opening to let water thru, then snapping shut when U R done. The Spring is weak (prob wrong type, size, strength at factory) or the valve seal is cracked, torn, hardened or crushed.
Since all this is inside the door, you will either have to take it apart to see/fix/replace.
Quick fix: turn down the water pressure coming in(?)
Call Mr. Handyman to fix.
If under warranty - they might fix this for you for free
If this is a factory defect, there might be a recall in place for repair/replacement parts
Googlee both - Make/Model + Dripping Valve + Recall
Good Luck!
I have a different fridge but had the same problem in the same area last year. Have you taken the front grill off the bottom and cleaned/vacuumed under the fridge at all? The dust build up there and behind the fridge panel builds up large enough for the fridge to not be able to cool itself causing condensation/drippage of this type. Reminder warning.. be sure to shut all power off before vacuuming out behind the back panel of the f fridge, that's where the fan turns. Hope this fixes the problem for you as it did for me!
Thank you for your post, friend!
I understand that you are seeing a brown liquid come from under your dispenser area. I would recommend you having a professional come out to your appliance to check and assure the water lines are connected properly and not developing any moisture problems to form from under your dispenser. I hope this is helpful. -Matt
