SOURCE: asus p5pe-vm series motherboard driver wont work with windows 7

Windows 7 is still in the beta/testing stage from what I remember.

If you go to this page courtesy of ASUS:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

In the search box type in your motherboard p5pe-vm and click on P5PE-VM related files for download

It will come up with a seperate window that will ask you the OS that your installing and windows 7 is not an option which tells me that drivers aren't available for your motherboard just yet, it may down the line once windows 7 becomes publicly available.

I'm thinking that you might have to install the chipset drivers, also.
Because the sound is part of the motherboard, they will be needed.

SOURCE: ASUS P5GD2 Deluxe motherboard with no sound

This is a known isue and ASUS is working on a sound driver for the chipset. Keep checking their site for driver updates. The board should all install with Windows 7 except for the sound drivers. Some people say they can install the vista driver and run it in vist or xp compatibility mode. The other thing you can do is pick up a cheap $20 Win 7 compliant sound card till the chipset driver issue is resolved.

Restore my asus k53u web cam

Hi Kusu,
This comes straight out of the manual for the K53U:

"Hardware Problem - Built-in Camera
The built-in camera does not work correctly.
1. Check "Device Manager" to see if there are any problems.
2. Try reinstalling the webcam driver to solve the problem.
3. If the problem is not solved, update the BIOS to the latest version and try again.
4.If the problem still exist, contact your local service center and ask an engineer for assistance."

To get to "Device Manager":
  1. Right click My Computer
  2. Click Properties
  3. Click Device Manager
  4. Look for Imaging Devices
  5. Click the arrow
  6. Right click the webcam
  7. If it says Disabled, click Enable
  8. If it says Enabled, click Update Driver Software
  9. Click Search Automatically for updated driver software - this will search the internet and your computer for the latest driver information.
  10. If that doesn't work, go to: http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/K53U/#support
  11. Select your operating system, eg. Windows 7 32bit or 64bit, Windows 8 32bit or 64bit. Look through the list and see if the driver is available.
  12. If not, your next option is to go to: http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=K53U&os=30
  13. Scroll to and select utilities.
  14. Look for version V3.1.1, Description: WebCam Utility.
  15. Click the Global ling with the green disc on the left hand side.
  16. Once downloaded, open and install.
Hopefully that solves the problem.

Hi um, my laptop asus X58L series when you turn it on the screen goes fuzzy and if you move the mouse it doesn't move. Can I have some help of what I need to do to fix this.

Try starting the machine in safe mode by pressing F8 before the windows screen comes on and choose safe mode.
Go to the device manager: start>control panel>hardware and sound>device manager. Go to display driver and expand the menu, right click on the adapter and click properties. Click on the driver tab and click update driver>search automatically for updated software. If this does not work, you may need to uninstall the driver and install a new one. If it's the nvidia driver, you can try the following link to download and install a new version.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_winvista_win7_195.62_whql.html?ClickID=blmkusee1u1eufkmvnkfzulufgyn1l1dygyg

To uninstall the driver follow the above path to the display adapter, right click and uninstall.

The installation is starting then failure

Hi ravishan12, from time to time windows just fails to install driver software correctly.
(Not uncommon). There's more than one way to get your sound driver software installed.
Make sure the bios is set, AZALIA AUDIO [Auto]. See page 2-22 in your manual.
Though I know you have an Asus CD with the sound driver on it, I don't want you to use it.
Create a folder on your desktop & name it "Sound". Go to Asus & download the sound driver into your "Sound folder".
Click on this Asus M2N-MX link & choose your operating system, than click on "M2N-MX related files for download". Click the plus sign next to Audio & download into the Sound folder.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us (2007/04/19 update).
The file will be in .zip format. Open the Sound folder & uncompress the .zip file - keeping the uncompressed files in the same Sound folder. Once uncompressed there will be two folders. One 32bit & the other 64bit. (This refers to your operating system) Windows 32bit or Win 64bit).
If you do not have the program, "Winzip" to uncompress the .zip file you can download it for free at this next link: http://www.download.com/WinZip/3000-2250_4-10003164.html
Next, how to get windows to install your sound driver software without failing. Open windows device manager. Scroll down through the list of icons. You should find that Sound, video and game controllers is already opened.
Right click once on the explanation point, a window will open & Left click once on “update driver”. Windows hardware wizard will open. Click No, not at this time. Than click the next button. Another window will open. Left click once in the circle next to, Install from a list or specific location (Advanced). Than click the next button. Again, another window will open. We want to remove the green check mark next to, Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM...). Left click on the green check mark once & it will go away.
Click the browse button, click the + sign next to my computer. Find the “Sound” folder on your desktop. Open it, high-light by left clicking on it once the correct folder, 32bit or 64bit. Than click OK.
Windows will search within the folder & install the correct driver software. If by some chance windows does not, repeat the above & open the Sound folder. Find the “AsusSetup.exe” within the correct 32bit or 64bit folder & click on it once. Than click, OK. Windows should install the driver. Close all opened windows & restart your system. Test you audio by running “SoundMax" software within control panel”.

Good luck ravishan12!
Mike

Windows Updates will not download...

Version 10.04 will not fix the problem with Windows Updates, and 10.04 will only update from a 10.03 version. Its not recommended unless you're using Fax Sharing and Windows XP.

Its possible you've overwrote some important system files in the process of copying files, but WinFax itself would not cause the problem.
