SOURCE: i cannot get the list

on the bottom of the unit is a small hole for resetting the unit. Take your stylus, unscrew the pointer end and use the smaller end of it to press into the reset hole. Let the reader reset and you should have your books. Kindle has had this issue for some time with the reader that came with the free ebooks. The solution was a simple one to fix.

SOURCE: hard reset kindle fire hd

I'm assuming you bricked your KFHD? if so, you're going through a bootloop? try booting into Safe Mode by holding both volume buttons during startup. Then :

  1. Pull down the notifications bar at the top of the Amazon Kindle Fire HD
  2. Select +More...and choose Device
  3. Now select Factory Data Reset
  4. Tap Yes when prompted
  5. Your Kindle Fire HD will be de-registered and then reset
  6. Do not touch your Kindle Fire HD until it restarts
  7. Your device will be restored and you will now need to follow the set up process to get it working again
