Look closely at the keys along the top of the keyboard (usually called F keys). one of them should have a tiny sun icon and the key beside it will have a larger sun icon. hold down the "Fn" key elsewhere on the keyboard while pressing the one of the sun icon keys to brighten or darken the picture. the sun icon keys may also be located on the Arrow keys (<-- --> etc.)

How can i adjust the brightness of my tecra m1? pressing Fn & F7 or F6 doesnt work.hope you guys could help.

The brightness is automatically controlled by a "Brightness Sensor" However, you can compensate the brightness by using the Toshiba Brightness Sensor Control. In order to use this utility, you must set the Brightness Sensor in Toshiba Power Saver to "ON"

I would like to change the screen brightness on my Tecra 8200 laptop, but can't find HELP on how to do this. Is there a 'hotkey'? Where can I get hotkey descriptions, if they exist?

Normally there's a Function button (Fn) and you can use that in conjunction with the brightness buttons on the keyboard (looks like a sun on most)

Help with a toshiba TECRA 8100

Yes, it should run WinXP. The minimum system requirements to run both Windows XP Home and Professional are 233Mhz, 64Mb RAM and 1.5GB hard drive space. I have a Toshiba Tecra 8000 that still runs XP, a little slow, but has run smoothly for 5 years.

The setupdd.sys error is most likely a due to a defective hardware like RAM. Try installing only one ram if you have two to see if either one is defective; it should work for most users.
