SOURCE: deck not high enough

Assuming this is a Craftsman, there is an adjustment for height, but mainly just for leveling purposes. There is a nut on each side in the center of the hanger and unless these are all the way to the bottom end, it's not going to raise the deck that high. I would look carefully at the deck hanger mechanism on each side. Something is obviously not right. Has it always been like this, or did you just get the mower? You can go to.. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action Then enter the model number that's under the seat, hit search, then scroll down to Lift Assembly for a look at how it is set up. I have seen broken hanger rods as well as a broken weld on the lift handle where it's attached to the cross shaft. Hope this helps..

I have a John Deere LX178 lawn tractor and the mower deck will not raise/lower. It is all the way down and pushing in the button is how i've ALWAYS adjusted the height. It will not budge

1) NEVER adjust to where the deck wheels touch the ground. The wheels are to ride 1/4" off the ground. 2) The long lever to your left which raises & lowers the deck has 3 settings. 1- Fully back toward you which has the deck raised (called transport mode). 2- Halfway down which is the normal mowing mode (called float mode) 3- Fully away from you which sets the deck fully on the ground. This mode is ONLY used for VERY rough terrain where the deck risks getting pushed into "transport" or "full up" mode & getting stuck there. 3) On front-to-back tilt, the front should be 1/2inch lower than the back for least damage to the grass. Ok-now to adjust "cutting" height. 1) Park on a level, flat surface. 2) Pull the deck lever fully back toward you to put the deck into "transport" mode. 3) twist the "cutting" height knob (just below your seat) to the height you want the grass cut. Has choices by 1/2" increments from 1" to 3.5". The deck in "transport" mode is 4". 4) Lower the deck lever to the midway/"floating" mode point. 5) Adjust each deck wheel with its own peg & pin to have at least 1/4" clearance from ground. Thats it for "cutting height" adjustments

How do I remove mower deck on Toro riding mower 1986

First put the front on a jack stand on high. then lower the deck all the way down. Look at the three places on each side to remove the pins that hold the deck on Then there should be two in the front of the deck, remove them. Remove the belt from the motor pully. Lower the mower to the ground and release the peices the pins were in. Remove the clip from the tension cable and remove the cable from the deck. Raise the mover to pull out the deck. Reverse to instal

Troy Bilt zero turn Mustang Xp 50" deck height. My

raise the back as high as you like but unless you raise the front as well it will still cut short. If you want it higher and there appears there is no adjustment left you may have to re thread the adjusting screws to shorter dimensions or if it is on levers you may have to drill new holes further up the bars.

I have a craftsman riding mower with a 42 inch deck and when i raise the deck only one side raises and the other side is on the ground. how can i fix this?

You need to verify the linkage for both sides is properly connected. You may have lost the pin holding the linkage together on one side, allowing the deck to stay on the ground.

My JDL120 MOWER DECK WON'T RAISE OFF THE GROUND MORE THAN 1.5".iHAVE HIT ROOTS AND ROCKS OVER THE YEARS AND WAS STILL ABLE TO RAISE DECK NORMALLY.

First thing is to get down and look at the linkages. You may have a weld that came loose, or a nut that worked it's way off. You may also have something that bent.

Does the lever move all the way up but the deck doesn't move with it, or does the lever stick at the low level.

If it's sticking, you may just have picked up an obstruction like a stick or stone in the wrong place. You may also have a bent or damaged linkage.

Does one side or just the front or back lift up? One of the pins that hold the bars that it pivots on may have come off or broken as well. Looking underneath while someone works the lever for you can tell you a lot.

The deck will not raise even , the riding lawnmower is a MTD Yard Machines, and when you raise the deck the left side does as it should, but the right side stays lowered to the ground and will not raise....

There is a pin that has come out of it's holf from the right side of the deck. Have someone raise the deck up and down and you should see a bracket or rod moving up and down. This attaches to the deck with a clevis pin to hold it in place.

Deck digs into ground

Try raising the mower's wheels one notch. That should lift the deck high enough to clear the ground and still cut to an acceptable height. Try it, if it doesn't work let me know here.

Deck shuts off, when loud, while idling or at stop lights.

You are working your deck to hard, it is overheating and shutting down (protection mode) You like it loud, you will need a 4 channel amp. Also check the ground on your deck to ensure it has a nice connection.
