You have a poor signal to the spark plug usually caused by a rusty fly wheel found underneath the pullcord casing. clean it with releasing ajent such as wd 40. common when not in use for a while.

SOURCE: wont start

tip a cap full of fuel in top of the carb to start intitially, check for spark as common fault is on/off switch, If no spark, link the 2 wires on on/off switch together.

SOURCE: Honda Pressure Washer HP 5 not starting

You can try spraying some carburetor cleaner into the carb. If it starts for a minute, your carburetor need cleaning. When you added new gas did you remove the old gas first? Is the air filter clean?

SOURCE: Karcher pressure washer with Honda GC160 engine only runs on chok

You need to remove the carb bowl, then with a small flat screwdriver remove the jet. ( on the side, at the bottom of stem.) take a small wire or toothpick and clean the gunk out of the jet, reassemble and open fuel valve, start, and pat yourself on your back.

SOURCE: How can I repair my Briggs and stratton 6.5 intek

Fuel Starvation - Float Bowl Carburetor
1) remove air filter assembly
*be cautious of tearing the mounting gasket. If it does tear, you HAVE to replace it. It is part of the priming system
2) remove the float bowl fastener. This is the main jet
3) carefully remove the float bowl, the rubber o-ring/gasket will not be able to be used if it is removed, you WILL have to replace it
4) using a spray 'carb cleaner'
spray up thru the center of the carburetor
spray and clean the main jet with cleaner and 'tag' wire
(tag wire is very thin, and can be used to clean the hole in the center of the main jet)
5) clean any debris from inside the bowl or carb body
6) re-install bowl and center bolt, air filter assembly

*if you need gaskets, your Briggs dealer can supply. The kit is cheaper than individual gaskets, and all the parts needed to finish the above repair are in the kit.

Clean or change air filter. Clean, gap or change spark plug. Empty gas tank add fresh gas with Stabil. When spark plug is removed pull rope several times to blow out cylinder. Spray starter fluid in spark plug hole before replacing spark plug. Clean outside of carb so choke works freely. Spray starter fluid into carb breather hole with air filter removed and try to start. if running replace air filter and cover. If no start disassemble carb and clean. If no start replace carb.

Mower wont start changed plug still wont start checked gas line seemed okay but what is that plastic piece in the line never seen one before

Getting a mower out of its winter slumber takes some time. Start with fresh gas, new oil, and air filter. Sometimes carbs get gummed up(varnisized gas). Donyboy73 on youtube shows how to remove Briggs n Stratton in tank carb systems and clean the parts and passages.

My Briggs and Stratton lawnmower engine won't start. Checked for air, spark, and fuel problems.

Before doing too much more i would pull the flywheel off and check the key has not part sheared.

Ran last year, won't start this year. Changed fuel and replaced spark plug. Checked spark and attempted to start with battery and tried with pull cord but no start. pulled plug and it had fuel on it so...

It might have tipped over on its side. Look at the air filter, if you see oil or gas on the filter then you might have to remove and clean the carburetor. I would start by cleaning/replacing the air filter and trying it again. If its getting fuel and the spark plug works then the only other side of the fire triangle is air.

Briggs & Stratton 650 (Model 120000) lawnmower engine on a Troy-Bilt CSV060 lawn vacuum/chipper/shredder. Was stored for several months with no oil/gas. Recently got it out and filled oil/gas. Would...

you are clearly burning oil. did you overfill? or tilt the unit so that engine oil went into the carb through the breather? now the carb may be soiled/partly clogged, you need to clean it. esp. the idler air part may be at fault. sometimes it is possible to run it at high rev until the fuel has washed out the oil, but better clean the carb and replace the air filter.

Why is it not getting fuel it turns over forever but wont start

Please be more specific! Make, model, sometimes a partial series number helps a lot.

General stuff:

Was it stored with fuel in it for more than a month?

When was the last time the gas tank got purged?

What's your fuel filter look like? Can you put a finger on it? If you can, replace it yesterday.

If a full flow lubrication engine with oil filter, when was the last oil change?

Is your combustion chamber pressure relief system TOO relaxed due to gummed lifters from poor oil maintenance? If your valves do not move, you'll get a spark, but no fuel or smell of fuel no matter how much you crank it over.

Will it start with a tablespoon of gas poured into the throttle bore or with carb cleaner/starting fluid then die?

If equipped, does your fuel shutoff solenoid still work?

Have you tried sitting in the seat, foot on brake, blade clutches disengaged?

Usual first time out of the barn stuff should include:

New Filter for air and oil, and if needed, the pre-filter sock over the air filter cartridge(s). New oil for crankcase and Hydrostatic axle - check manual - there might be a filter and a magnet to clean in your gearbox!

New plug. Fresh gas. And a bicycle pump...

If your tires are filled, it's easier to push it to the repair center. ;)

Lawn mower will not start

check gas tank with light is there dirt in tank? did you change fuel filter? is there spark at the spark plug? try a 2 second spurt of starting fluid in carburetor and crank does it fire?if it does then you most likely need to clean carburetor with carburetor cleaning spray, flush fuel lines with spray and swap fuel filter.

Oil in air cleaner

Run it minus an air filter until all the oil is off your piston head, you can also try keeping the plug out and ejecting the oil via that access by pulling the cord. It seems like you've already solved the problem, now you're just cleaning up.
