Toro 266d runs five seconds then dies toro dealer just worked on two weeks ago

Let warm up if still does need new spark plug

Try starter fluid to determine whether its a fuel problem or spark. Remove air filter cover and filter and spray a short burst (about 1 second) of fluid into carb throat (or as close as possible behind baffle C) and promptly pull starter cord.

If engine fires and runs for a second or two then its a fuel/choke problem (compression is ok). If doesn't run, then more likely no spark but could still be a fuel or compression issue.

My Toro has a idle screw on the carb to adjust the idle speed

try cleaning out the carburator.

Did you check the filter? If the engine doesn't get air they it could cause it to die out like that. Also make sure that there isn't anything in the air line to the carb.

Did you check the gas line and make sure that you are getting enough fuel?

Check the plug for loose wire or at blower where wire it enters to make sure the wire was not pulled and disconnected inside. If after looking and it is not a wire, check the brushes on the motor. They could be worn out or not making a good contact. Blow out brush housing and re-install brush sometimes this works. That's about all I can think of unless there is a safety switch then check that. Have a Toro GPS5 600 lawnmower. Starts with Choke on, but dies if you move off choke. Also, runs fast and slow when blade engaged. I heard carb for this unit are no longer available. Help

check the air filter & also spray some carb.clean in the carb see if that helps
