The green wire is the ground the other needs to go power but onley when the key is on

Solenoid wiring diagram


If you have a relay to the starter solenoid then red one from the battery then red from the relay to the starter solenoid. The starter solenoid earth wire goes into the starter housing for the brushes if not then the red wire from the battery goes direct to the starter solenoid big terminal. The other big terminal will already got inside the housing. That takes care of the really heavy wires . The small wire goes to the little terminal between the big terminals.

Putting starter back on vechicle need help with wiring


LOOKING AT STARTER WIRES.BATTERY CABLE POSITIVE CABLE GOES TO STARTER SOLENOID POSITIVE POST TERMINAL THAT IS THE LARGE STUD IN THE STARTER SOLENOID.. I need a wire diagram for a 1981 harley davidson superglide for the starter wireing


The wiring is simple for a starter. You have a starter solenoid on the bike and a starter relay. When you press the button to start your bike, the button has a wire that runs to the relay. This triggers the coil in the relay and pulls the contacts in. You have three wires that run to the relay for the starter. One hot wire, a trigger wire from the starter button and a wire from the relay to the solenoid. When you press the button, the relay pulls in and makes the wire going to the solenoid "Hot".

The solenoid has three wires going to it. The large battery cable goes to the "long post" of the solenoid, There's another battery cable going to the starter from the bottom of the solenoid, The wire from the starter relay goes to the small terminal of the solenoid. The small wire from the starter relay is the trigger wire for the starter solenoid. When this wire goes hot, it magnetizes the solenoid and pulls the plunger inward. The plunger bridges two large contacts in the solenoid to put high current voltage to the starter.

I have to install a solenoid starter on my 1971


Ok solenoid bolts on to fender wall and we will start with main wires the big ones.battery to the left side of solenoid. the other big bolt wire goes to starter main wire. They s on solenoid means start you want to put the wire from the ign. switch it almost always has a 90 degree little boot on it If there is more wires then that just repost with colors and sizes of wires and I can help you. sounds like you are hooking up the starter wrong. the positive goes to the starter main terminal from the battery. the ignition wire goes to the s on the solenoid, which activates 12 volts when the ignition switch is turned on which causes a magnetic field
inside the solenoid and joins the connectors
in the solenoid to the main positive wire from the
battery to the main starter unit brushes/armature inside the starter unit. If you have a constant
12 volts from the ignition wire it will keep the solenoid engaged. If you put the main positive wire on the wrong solenoid terminal it will immediately engage the starter. try putting the main battery wire to the correct terminal or perhaps check the ignition wire for a short or constant voltage to the solenoid.

1977 ford f 100 solenode mounted on starter


so did this problem just happen or did you do some wiring repairs??. on a 1977 the only solenoid should be the fender. I dont have a wiring diagram that old. if it just happened there is a small wire on the solenoid on the fender, unhook this wire, and see if it happens again. if the starter does not engage then you may have a ign switch problem, if it still engages then the solenoid is bad.

How to wire the solenoid on riding lawn mower


The large red cable from the battery should go to the large terminal on one side of the solenoid. The opposite side of the battery solenoid connection goes to the starter So now you have a heavy cable going from the battery to one side of the solenoid and another heavy cable (red) going to the starter connection. There should also be a small wire coming from the ignition switch to the small terminal on solenoid. If there are two small terminals on solenoid, ground the other one. To test the ignition switch, just turn the key and see if you get 12 volts, then you know that part is good. If not, check your ignition switch. So, back to the solenoid-----. If there are two small solenoid terminals with nuts for wires on the solenoid then the wires could be mixed up. So just reverse the two small wires and try again.

You would think they would make things easy and say on the solenoid, Battery connection here, and Starter connection here, and ignition switch wire here, but no, just nothing for the most part.

So now remember this is nothing more than a lightswitch type of a mechanism where instead of using your finger to flick the switch, we are using a small electric charge to momentarily close the light switch, in this case the starter motor, same idea.

Tcc switch 1996 pontiac grand am


There are 4 solenoids in the transmission, they are all supplied 12V through a common pink wire, and grounded individually by the computer. There are two solenoids for the tcc, one is called the tcc application solenoid, the other is the tcc PWM (pulse width modulation) solenoid. I'm not positive, but I believe the PWM solenoid faciitates the smooth engagement and disengagement of the tcc, but the application solenoid controls the bulk of the hydraulic pressure. If you want to check the resistance of these solenoids, the application solenoid is grounded through the tan/black wire, so you should see aproximately 28 ohms resistance between the pink wire and the tan/blk wire as they go into the transmission. The tcc PWM solenoid should have a resistance of about 12 ohms and you would measure this between the pink wire and the brown wire. The transmission should be electrically disconnected when you do these tests.
