How to replace the ice dispenser motor (part # 2252130) on a kenmore elite side by side refrigerator with the ice dispenser in the door(model # 106.57789701)? Do you access the dispenser motor from the outside of the freezer door? If so, how do you get to it? You can access the motor connector from below the ice maker but not the motor.

There is a small door under neath ice maker shelf (literally) w/ 2 small screws that keep it in place,or a button that can release ice maker on the rt. side of machine. Good luck!!

check for a child lockout button it will look like a tiny padlock ,press and hold for 3 sec.(could be the freezer door light switch)

I had the same problem with our Whirlpool Gold. Which by the way was just out of warranty. The guy who repaired the problem told us that since there were so many replacement dispenser motors at different supply locations that there must be a problem. I think that the root cause is the arm in the ice holder is hard to move, and it burns the dispenser ( #2252130) motor out. Whirlpool should get to the bottom of this and offer free or reduced repairs. Motor # 2252130
