Is it all game disks or just one ? It may be something as simple as a greasey finger print on the disk or a scratch that stops your console from reading a disk

does it still read the disk you was playing or not if it dont then you could buy a lense cleaner put this into you ps2 and then after it has cleaned the lense try your games again you can buy these really cheap and they are just a disk with little brushes onn that cleans the lense in anything that takes disks if this dont solve the problem and the ps2 dont play any disk at all then the laser will need replacing you can replace it yourself but it will need to be recalibrated witch is something a pro must do as not doing this will stop it reading any disk but you only get this prob if you buy new laser you can get second hand ones but you never no if they are working or not hope this is some help to you

Ur PS2 optical getting weaker and it needs service.Contact any expert for its service,And dont try to do it personally if u dont know about it.

9 out of 10 times when the fat ps2 cant/wont read disk its the cd tray needs to be adjusted.
I would suggest opening up the ps2 and cleaning the console with Qtips and rubing alcohol. if the laser will wont read. go to youtube.com type in fix my ps2 laser. you will watch a video on how to adjust your cd tray.
The reason for this issue is if the laser is to close or to far from the cd the laser cant read the cd.
the worse problem u can come across is the laser 100% failed. which is rare but you can buy a new/used working laser on ebay.com or google it. the laser will have the model on it you want to make sure you get the correct model. otherwise it wont work.

theres a difference in the older guitar hero games and newer ones, CD Rom for the older and DVD Rom for the newer, Ps2 wont read the DVD Rom ones, my experiance so far.

The first thing I Suggest Is To Use A Cotton Swab With 90% Alcohol To Clean Your Lenses. 90% Alcohol Cleans 90% Of Anything!!!! Then Use A CD Lenses Cleaner. That Should Solve Your Problem. One More Thing Clean Your Games With The 90% Alcohol Also. It Will Be Great!!!!
