We have a Maytag French Door refrigerator (MFD2561HEB) and the water dispenser has stopped working. We replaced the filters but the water tubes behind the crisper seemed frozen. We defrosted the freezer (by accident actually) and the water began working again. When the freezer was turned on again, the water stopped working again. How do we fix this? The temp settings are currently at the manufacturer settings (0 degress celcius for the freezer). For background, this fridge needed to have the motor replaced when it was about 2.5 years old, as the cold air was not blowing into the upper (fridge) portion, and only the freezer was cold. The fridge is now about 3.5 years old.
Thanks!
We had the same issues with the water freezing and called a technician out. He added some extra insulation installed around the water lines inside the refrigerator and we also keep our frig at 40 degrees Fahrenheit, slightly above the manufacturers default setting. Hope this helps.
Ours is a Maytag MFD2560HES. I popped off the plate at the top of the dispenser with a putty knife, partially removed the unit from the inside of the frig, and noticed that the switch wasn't held in on one side by the retaining clip, so when the button was pressed the switch wasn't being engaged. Popped it into the clip and it now works perfectly.
CLUE: when you press the switch you should here a click, indicating the switch is engaging.
