How do I stop my ankles and feet to swelling after being sun burnt

Hello Anne.
Since this is a Q & A about cars and trucks,,, I will venture off topic..
This is serious and therefore should be evaluated by a physician. When you go to your doctor's appointment, be prepared to discuss the following possibilities. If the ankle swelling started just after the sunburn, it may be due to an inflammatory reaction as the skin tries to heal. A sunburn is a first degree burn but it still causes local inflammation and pain. As the body mounts an inflammatory response, the capillaries in the area dilate and become leaky. This process can cause localized edema and swelling, which usually resolves on its own over time. However, not every sunburn causes this reaction, so if yours is severe, you should see a physician. The reason you get extreme pain when you stand still is because the blood is pooling in your lower legs causing the swelling to increase. It is so painful cause the tissues are ripping apart to create room for the 'blood pooling' or tissue swelling. The most sensitive areas are the shins cause the tissue is tightly attached to the bone. That is why when you sit down or lay down it subsides or goes away. The body is not "upright" causing gravity to pool the blood in your lower legs ankles and feet can also be due to lymphedema. Lymph fluid travels up through vessel and is filtered through the lymph nodes of the body. Any issue with the lymph nodes or vessels in your leg can cause the fluid to pool in lower areas of the leg. If you have ever had lymph nodes in your abdomen, pelvis, or legs removed or irradiated, you should see a doctor very soon. Another possible cause of your problem, is your body retaining too much fluid overall, which can be manifested as swollen ankles and feet. This condition, called pitting edema, can affect people who have problems with their heart, liver, or other body systems. When fluid builds up in the legs, it can also build up in the lungs and other critical organs, so it is important to have this issue evaluated immediately. I strongly recommend that you make an appointment to see your primary care doctor ASAP!!, and he or she can refer you to a specialist if this becomes necessary.

What causes leg cramps?

Idiopathic leg cramps

Although the cause of idiopathic leg cramps is unknown, there are a number of theories about what might cause idiopathic leg cramps. These include:
  • abnormal nerve activity during sleep which causes the muscle of the leg to cramp
  • excessive strain placed on leg muscles, such as when exercising, may cause the muscles to cramp at certain times
  • a sudden restriction in the blood supply to the affected muscles
Also, tendons naturally shorten over time as a person gets older, which may explain why older people are particularly affected by leg cramps. Tendons are tough bands of tissue that connect muscles to bone. If your tendons become too short, they may cause the muscles connected to them to cramp.
Secondary leg cramps
Secondary leg cramps are caused by an underlying condition or another identifiable cause. These include:
  • pregnancy: the extra weight of pregnancy can place strain on the leg muscles, making them more vulnerable to cramping
  • exercise: leg cramps are often experienced when resting after exercise
  • neurological conditions (conditions that affect the nerves in your leg muscles): for example, motor neurone disease or peripheral neuropathy
  • liver disease: if your liver stops working properly, toxins will build up in your blood, which can make your muscles go into spasm
  • infection: some types of bacterial infection, such as tetanus, can cause muscle cramps and spasm
  • toxins: in some people, high levels of toxic (poisonous) substances in the blood, such as lead or mercury, can cause leg cramps
  • dehydration: in some people, low levels of water in the body can lead to a drop in your salt levels, which can trigger muscle cramps

Medication

Certain medications have been known to cause leg cramps in a small number of people. These include:

I wouldn't go playing with it.If the airbag goes off,you will suffer some pretty sore bones.Take it to someone who knows. It's cheaper than a hospital bill.(yes.It does happen)
