Sounds like you have the wrong input selected for where you have it plugged in. Turn on the TV and the source(cable box, DVD...etc.) On the remote locate the input or the source button. Press that until you get a picture and sound.

My tv went black and will not come back on with picture can look at menu, cable is hooked up, I was trying to waqtch 22

If your TV, won't work, don't forget to check the AC plug is inserted and the wall outlet is giving power. If that is ok, and the on of switch in not changing anything, it can be a defect in the power unit of the TV. If you have any electronic knowledge, you could have a go by checking all electrolytic capacitors in the power unit. Lots of times one or more are gone. You can see this when the top is not flat, but round. Goto ifixit dot com, to check how to repair a power supply.

The power went off today for unknown reasons at my house while I was watching my LG TV through my LG LHB335HTS which is hooked up with HDMI Cables. When the power came now it will not show a picture...

I was able to fix this issue by changing the screen resolution to auto on the home theater system. Since I had no picture on my tv, I had to unplug it and plug it into another tv. Once connected to the other tv, I was able to access the menu and change the resoultion to auto (it had been reset to 480dpi, this is why it didn't work on my main tv). After I set it to auto, I was able to get it all to work. My niece had been playing with the button in front of the device and apparently the sequence of opening the DVD tray and pressing the stop button causes the screen resoultion to reset to 480dpi.

Tried to hook up ps3 to a different, older tv. was hooked up with hdmi cable and optical audio cable. bought a component cable that works with the ps3. I can't get a picture or sound. or anything else. ...

HDMI is a digital signal, so your TV and your PS3 are basically talking to each other over the connection at all times. That's why when you plug an HDMI connection into your PS3, it can detect the connection and try to switch right to it. Component cables don't work the same way, they only output information, so it's a one way street. Your PS3 is still outputting information, but it still thinks it needs to output to the HDMI port. The fix is pretty simple, and there are two options.

The Long Way
  1. Plug your PS3 into an HDMI TV.
  2. Change the Audio settings first, so your console outputs audio to a Component source.
  3. Now change the Video settings last, so the PS3 is outputting to a Component source as well.
  4. Your screen should go blank once you do this. Hit the X button once, wait a moment, then use the power button on the front of the PS3 and turn it off.
Now just plug the PS3 into the other old TV with the Component cables, and turn it on. You should have picture and sound now.

The Short Way
  1. Leave the PS3 plugged into the old TV, and turn it off with the front power button. Once the light has turned Red, hold the power button down for at least 5 seconds. Don't let go until you should hear the system beep twice.
Now you should be able to use your PS3 on the older TV without a problem.

The Short Way is a simple reset of your video card, it causes the PS3 to revert to outputting to it's out-of-box settings. If neither of these ways worked, check here at the Sony website, and one of those solutions may better fit you, but it sounds like one of the two solutions above should solve it.

Please leave a comment or rating letting me know if this solved your problem, constructive feedback is always welcome. Good luck with your console and good luck with your games.

1. UNPLUG power from TV at wall outlet.

Hope this works!

Sound but no picture. menus work.

I had the same problem. In the menu, the image button was grey, and could not be hi-lighted, and the screen stayed blue. I was using the AC power cord. I plugged in the DC power cord instead, and it "woke" the unit up. I switched back to the AC power and it works fine. If you don't hve the DC cord that came with the TV, try andy 12 volt dc output cord with a positive tip.

No sound on NON HD channels

I had the exact same problem on a brand new Insignia 26 " LCD with DVD. Comcast tech was able to fix it by changing the Comcast box diagnostics. Here is what he did. Using the Comcast remote with the TV on - press power, cable, menu in that order. A comcast diagnostic srceen will appear. Select Additional HDMI options, then audio options. Change the audio options to L-PCM. Press power again to exit the diagnostics. That will fix it and you get to use the HDMI cable.
