Was running fine then shut off acting like it ran out of gas will start after cranking the engine for a few mins.but then dies.acts like it's running out of fuel, while it is running it has no power
Try replacing the plug.could also be a spark problem from the coil .you can purchase a spark tester which you can fit between the plug and lead .pull start mower and watch if spark is good.if ok then get a can of carby clean start mower and spray carby clean spareingly while running and if it keeps going the fuel is the problem

Your engine model # 128602 Type 0212-E1. Forget about ordering from Sears and paying shipping and waiting a week. Go to your local Briggs and Stratton dealer (most shops are) and buy part # 694395. Should cost about $3.00
SOURCE: the engine will run for about a minute, then shutdown.
If it has a sediment bulb try taking it off and cleaning the bowl and use carb and choke cleaner and spray everything down. If the bolt that holds on the sediment bowl is hollow with a little weep hole in it use fine wire to make sure it is not plugged. Carefully reassemble and try it out. (When you take off the bowl the float will drop and gas will run out. Let some out in case you have water in the tank.)
If it has a carb that is mounted on top of the gas tank with 5 or 6 screws remove the tank and carb and replace the diaphram that goes between the carb and tank. An easy way to check if the diaphram is bad is to remove the air filter and press the primer bulb. If you do not get a solid jet stream of gas after a couple of presses on the primer bulb then you have a bad diaphram. Just take your model, type and code numbers (found on the engine shroud) to your local small engine repair shop and get new parts.
Hope this helps.

My 5hp B-S is doing the same thing and found a post that seems to be the best answer. Replace the float. It runs out of gas if the float is not working properly.
Another cause may be the diaphram, maybe.
Mine is 12 yrs old so I plan on getting the whole carb rebuild kit
while I have it apart
Good Luck

Try loosening the gas cap a little...... there is a normally a small breather hole in the top or underside just above the seal which allows a small amount of air to enter into the fuel tank. Sometimes this breather hole gets clogged..... stopping air from entering into the fuel tank as fuel is used. Eventualy enough vacume pressure accumulates inside he tank causing a vapor lock. If you loosen your fuel cap slightly.... this should prevent the problem your experiencing. If it does... try soaking cap in deisel fuel or heating oil overnight, remove and allow to dry prior to re-installing. If the problem persists after a good soak, only option is to replace fuel cap. GOOD LUCK!
try and run it with the gas cap loose the vent might be plugged
Had the same problem with an almost new Craftsman w/ Intek 20.0 HP. Check all the "usual suspects" and had to have a tech come out. He had me start it. It ran for a few minutes and stopped (per usual). He immediately went to the Anti-Backfire solenoid. It is an electrically operated "plunger-style" fuel line blocker. They are famous for going bad. The part is about $65 and its sole purpose is to starve the engine of its fuel supply at shutdown so it won't backfire. If it is disabled, the user must throttle the engine down for 10 seconds or so before turning the key off in order to avoid backfires. Gee... let's see, 10 seconds of my time each time I use the mower vs $65 part ... No contest! Remove the solenoid, take a pair of electrician side cutters and snip off the tip of the plunger and reinstall it. Problem solved ! ! !
