So...occasionally my computer will take off typing ";j.k,l/////////" and continue on forever...why does it do this? How can I fix it?

During typing, daisywheel spontaneously readjusts itself and then the machine beeps and will not continue. Will it be expensive to fix? Ballpark cost?

Daisy wheel is kind of old school nowadays, you might have to go to a office supply store like staples etc, to possibly get it fixed

Dear Technician, While i am typing things, the mouse cursor replaces itself elsewhere and thus my typing shifts to the new place and continues typing from there. I then have to cut the words and...

You are probably hitting the touchpad on your laptop with the heel of your hand while you're typing. This will make the cursor move to some other place. It's not really moving by itself; you just aren't aware you're doing it. I would suggest turning off the touchpad while you're typing, and then turn it back on as needed. Compaq computers usually have a switch on the touchpad bezel to turn it off. Some people also plug in a USB mouse, finding it more convenient and comfortable if they want to move around on the document frequently.

My windows keeps shutting down and restarting- why

Something could be corrupted on your harddrive. Try this:
  1. Go to Start>Run> and type cmd (hit enter) (Start>search for vista/7)
  2. then type in there chkdsk /f /r
  3. and when it prompts you to hit (y/n) type y and hit enter.

now reboot your computer and let it scan itself.
If it says you need to be an administrator, after typing cmd DO NOT HIT ENTER. in vista you should see cmd near the top of the search, right click it and say run as administrator. Then continue from the above.

It seems a bad CMOS BIOS battery, normally this is a "coin" type alkaline battery located inside CPU, to replace it, you must have access to the motherboard.

My monitor will randomly turn on or off...

Hello there:
what you will need to do is boot the machine into bios setup screen and look under the section where you see the video graphics section and click on it now look to see if it says agp or pci it should be set to your type of a video card either pci or agp if it is set to pci and you have a agp type card than switch it to agp or you can do vice versa and see which one works the best for your system ok?
Tthan simply save settings and reboot.
this should take care of the problem.
best regards michael

My Eee pc 900 is running sluggish

Go to your local computer software store and get a program that will clean up your computer and get rid of any unnecessary files that your computer automatically stores. It will also help you set your computer up to automatically delete theses files after you log out.

My R3000 wont power up

sounds like the power button itself, down to the level where the contact happens, needs cleaning. I have cleaned these types of contacts many times. It is tedious and involves dismantling of the unit to access the switch contact area. Then clean both of the contacts with alcohol swab, then continue wiping with dry swabs until all alcohol is gone.
