Oil coming out by exhaust
90% chance it's the head gasket. Oil gets past it, sucked into the combustion chamber on the intake stroke. Briggs has a known problem on these one cylinder, overhead cam engines. A new gasket costs $7 and it's not that hard to fix. There are YouTubes that will walk you through the process. Summary, remove tractor hood, top cover of engine, remove head bolts, valve cover. Keep careful track of push rods, which end is which and upper and lower. The lower one on my was white, and don't put it in backwards, easy to do. It won't run if in backwards. Intake valve stays shut. Re-torque head bolts to specification, 18 foot pounds on mine. Don't over torque, its an aluminum block. Re-torque bolts after you run it once to the same spec., gasket will have slightly compressed.
Drain engine oil an refill to manuel capacity, its easy to overfill this model due to the dipstick tube height
SOURCE: excessive smoke when runing oil in exhaust
Sounds like it could be a blown head gasket betwen the cylinder and valves. The gasket is very thin in that area and is a common problem. Not a recommended fix for a novice. Best taken to a shop..... Dwain
