Can i use my microphone on my boss rc 50 looping machine?

Im getting the boss rc 50 looping machine in 3 days. I need to know if the microphone I bought will work with it. I love to sing and this is my first time dealing with these types of problems. the boss rc 50 is a machine intended for guitar loops, but I realized it works as well for vocals. I really need to know if it will be compatible! thank you :)

If it has the input for it there should be no issue..

SOURCE: Can not record vocal and guitar at the same time

The monitoring switch should not affect the recording at all. Maybe you have a defective mic?

Does it record from the line input if you set it to Line In mode?

SOURCE: Bought the Q7 mic .. doesn't work with my G-Dec Junior Fender Amp

If your amp has 2 inputs, you will need to rewire your standard mike cable as follows. Go to http://s3.amazonaws.com/samsontech/related_docs/Q7_ownman_v1s.pdf for the wiring diagram. If you aren't comfortable with doing this go to a music store and explain your problem and ask if they have a low to high impedance adapter with an XLR on one end and a 1/4" plug on the other. Hope this helps.

Make sure your recording onto a Mono track in your software, don't choose stereo when creating the track.

RC looper and DR880 syncing.

RC-50 & DR-880 Setup
Rather than using the RC-50 to change patches on the DR-880, I have connected an FS-6 footswitch to both the RC-50 & DR-880. This gives me control of both units, I can select up & down through the patches easily.
Use a dual TRS connector and 2 stereo "y" cables connected to ports 1,2 & 3.4 on both units.
Once connected, you will need to assign the control function for each control port. I assigned Patch Decrease to CLT 1,2 & Patch Increase to CLT 3,4 on both units.
I then connected a MIDI cable from the RC--u control of start/stop & tempo via the RC-50 footswitches.

Rc-50 recording silent wav files

Perhaps your computer's sound card is unable to play back at the bit rate and kHz you are recording at on your (mobile?) recorder. I'm not familiar with the RC-50 but if you are recording at 24 bit for example and your computer's sound card is only able to play back at 16 bit it may not reprosuce any sound. Usually you will get an error saying so. Have you tried different playback software?

Roland BOSS RC-20XL Loop Station will not record or play

If your Roland BOSS RC-20XL Loop Station will not record or play, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check the power source: Make sure that the Loop Station is properly powered and that the batteries or power supply are providing sufficient power. If using batteries, try replacing them with fresh ones.
  2. Check the connections: Ensure that the input and output connections are properly connected and that there are no loose cables. Try using different cables to see if that resolves the issue.
  3. Check the settings: Make sure that the Loop Station is set to the correct mode and that the input level is set appropriately. Refer to the user manual for guidance.
  4. Reset the device: Try resetting the Loop Station to its factory settings. Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to do this.
  5. Service: If none of the above steps work, the Loop Station may need to be serviced. Contact the manufacturer or a certified repair center for assistance.
Hopefully one of these steps will help you get your Roland BOSS RC-20XL Loop Station working again.

Im trying to connect two rc-50 via midi! I want one of the them to act as a master and the other one as a slave. The goal is to have both machines working independently but have all loops on each rc-50 to...

While you can probably get the functions sent by MIDI to transfer to the other unit, syncing PROBABLY isn't going to work very well because there is a lag to form the MIDI sync clock (serial data) and then receive it, decode it and do something with it.The transmit time is about 1/3000 of a second and receiving is at least that much time. On rhythm things I have found the ear can hear 1/1000 of a second easily. If one could set the machines to use an EXTERNAL sync clock and drive the SAME clock to both units, you might be able to sync them together time wise as they would see the sync at identical times.

My Boss RC-50 has stopped working. I used the power chord for my RC 50 in my Boss OC 3 pedal and then tried using the chord in my RC 50 again and it won't work. It won't even work with other power...

CHeck the voltage out of the adapter. It should be around 9 to 11 volts. If it is not, it is possible that the OC3 has reversed polarity AND a protector that put a short on an incorrect supply. If so, it could have damaged the RC50 adapter. If the RC50 adapter is putting out correct voltage, then I suspect the inout connector on the RC50 may be damaged or not quite seated. Visually inspect the connector first.

Beggining of loop missing on FIRST playback only, on Boss RC-50.

Ok, solved this problem by visiting roland U.S. site as the help offered in this country is useless. The instructions given by email would not have worked even after the update was installed. Luckily, there are instructions that come with the download. If you have same problem as me go to http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=772&tab=downloads&skip=true

and update the opperating system on the RC-50 to RC-50 System Update Version 1.01.

Then hold loop sync and phrase 2 button (think it was phrase 2) to change it to sound priority mode. Then it will play back correctly what you recorded on the first loop, rather than missing the first beat.

Am v.happy I have found this, as after much searching I can't find any other loopers out there that offer 3 seperate loop tracks and the ability to switch between them effectively. Plus, it's a very convenient size, better than a load of rackmounted stuff to haul around.

However.....

Another problem..

When hitting the reverse switch ( I assigned both external footswitch and the onboard Tempo pedal to reverse) the change is not instanteaneous. There is a second or so delay before it plays in reverse. Not a problem for most, I suppose, but I have a piece that switches rythmicaly between playing forward and reverse which means hitting a pedal in time and reverse/forwards changing immediately. I think they could do with another software update to solve this. Now I have to keep room in my enormous pedal board for the old rc-20, as that does the reverse as it should - when you hit the flippin switch!

How To Turn Drum Beat Off

From what I remember from my recent tinkering you press the guide select button. Then either use the patch/value know and parameter buttons, OR it may be the guide level knob to switch the volume down until it is off. I believe I then saved the patch to preserve the setting and keep that irritating guide at bay! It really should be more intuitive, ideally knod turned to zero = OFF. But no. Ah well, hope you get it sorted. I have a problem too, maybe you have same one? It may be the unit itself. Search - Beggining of loop missing on FIRST playback - if you get a chance. Let me know if yours does it too?
