I have a Generac 20kw stand by generator it is a two cylinder V-twin and runs on natural gas. Only one cylinder is firing, I changed out both ignition coils and grounding wire, I checked the spark plug wires and I am getting spark. I gapped the spark plug and valves and all looks good. I swapped the spark plugs and same thing happens the same cylinder wont fire. I had a mechanic come look at it and he did a valve leak, and compression test on both cylinders and all looked good. When I choke the air intake the one cylinder seems to fire but not sure. I can only tell by the temperature off the exhaust manifold. I ordered a "of water column gauge to test natural gas pressure to check the inlet gas pressure. Any thoughts on what problem could be???
If you have spark and compression and it not firing then you must not have fuel. the fuel is fed from the demand regulator thru the intake independent for each cylinder. Check the intake and make sure that the NG/LP pin is all the way to the NG side.
check demand regulator on intake theres one on each cylinder.
I checked the pressure of the gas coming into generator and it has 10" of water column not running and 7" of water column while running, so that looks good. I ran it again today and as usual only one cylinder fired, so i choked the air intake and then the secnd cylinder started running though rough. I am assuming this means the exhaust valev should be fine and its a fuel issue like u said. Should I change out regulatorhttp://genpartsupply.com/index.php/gener...

Make sure it getting fuel try and get some nulon start you into the intake ,while its running you could also try throttle body cleaner spray in through the air filter and if its fuel the will start running on 2 cylinder. You seem to have covered everything else, good luck.
demand regulator on intake not working check it out .
Thanks Richard, how do I check the demand regulatorhttp://genpartsupply.com/index.php/gener... this is the regulator I have on the unit
check pin atbase of reg. make sure its tapped all the way in and secure
I checked and didnt see a pin at base of the regulator, the regulator on the generator?
you may have to pull it off to inspect it.
