SOURCE: Playstation 3 (PS3) Console: my ps3 slim wont read any disks...

Hi,

This is a very common problem with the PS3 and is caused by a problem with the laser on the Bluray drive which is malfunctioning and can no longer 'see' or read the game disk properly.

The PS3 uses a dual laser system. This consists of either a dual refractor type lens or two entirely seperate lenses depending on which pickup is fitted to your particular system. One laser is for reading ordinary DVD disks and PS2 disks and the other for Bluray and PS3 games.

The symptoms you describe are quite typical of a failure of one or both of these lasers.

For more information on how to resolve the problem please have a look at this FixYa Tip on the subject.

Many thanks for using FixYa

Playstation 3 will not turn on at all i have a disk i like to remove

Depending on the model of PS3, if you are getting no power, then the only way to get the game out is to crack open the system and manually remove it. There are several vids on youtube of how to do this.

I have sonyplaystion 1 yes i no old.....can i buy sonyplaysation 2 games for the playstaion 1 console.....

No, it will not be compatible. If you would like to play PS1/PS2, and eventually PS3 games, look into buying a original launch "Backwards Compatible" PS3. The model is CECHAO1. Good luck.

Playstation 3 will not read the game disk but will

Hi there,

Try the steps mentioned below and the PS3 will work with the games disks as well;
1) Restore your PS3 to deafault settings under System Settings
2) Hold down the power button for several seconds until the light goes from red to green to red. Once it turns back to red, let go.
3) Finally, Hold down the power button again untill you hear 2 quick beeps... a few seconds. This will repair any damaged sectors in your HD.

My playstation 3 is not out putting game display properly. It seems to be zooming in & it has never done that before. Can someone tell me how to fix it??

first try powering down and then when powering back up hold down the power button this will restore default video settings if this dont help.

Then next try doing a restore to default under system settings. Finally go into safe mode as a last resort and click restore system files (dont worry it will just fix any corrupted files i have had to do it a few times on my cechao1 60gb system but never did on my 80g system.... i hear the 40g is the worst for issues though)
