Generally the defrost drip system is designed to evaporate the defrost water as the compressor fan runs as the forced warm air from the compressor evaporates the water in the tray. As long as the defrost timer is working properly and the compressor fan hasn't failed, you should never have to worry about emptying the tray.

Now, if it's overflowing you will need to determine why, is it the compressor fan, room temperature too cold, defrost cycle not working or what. The tray is usually located behind the grill at the bottom of the refrigerator which just pops off sometimes after opening the door(s). The tray sits in a recess where you lift it out of.

HOW DO i GET TO THE DRIP PAN ON MY KENMORE REFRIGERATOR MODEL 106.57024601

Hi!
you can get to the drip pan removing the base grill in front of the unit. There is no need to empty the tray, since the water that drips into it is consumed by the evaporator. Some drip pans are even fastened by screws and can't be readily removed.
Good Luck!! Don't forget to rate this post!!

I have a compact refrigerator, about 6 moonths old. It started leaking - I assume from the drip pan. But there are no instructions for emptying the pan. Should they be periodically empied?

Hi!!

Check the back of the unit, on the bottom you should be able to see the drip pan, empty it as often as needed. Nothing wrong with that.

Need to empty drip pan. How do you remove the

The standard procedure is to remove the plastic grill at the bottom of the front of the freezer and then slide the pan out for cleaning and emptying. Might as well vacuum dust out while your at it. Helps the compressor operate at a cooler temperature.

Do I need to empty the water from my drip pan

the pan is there to catch condensation from the compressor during the refridgeration cycle. the water build up to me indicates one of two things. Either the refrigerant level is low and it is freezing up then thawing, or if you have ice or water dispencer it could have a leak in the line. the only thing other than that is a leak in the magnetic door seal or other insulation causing condensation. hope this helps

How do I empty the Drip Pan

Remove the grill underneath the doors. A flashlight helps, look for a plastic pan, it should just lift out. Some of the older models the pan is bolted down. If you still cant find it, slide the refer out and take the panel off the back, some are easier this way.

I cannot get to the drip pan under refridgerator to empty it. It is filled with sludge and smells bad

Thank willie for helping with one: "Well, it looks like the pan is a seperate plastic pan and not the compressor mounting pan like some of the newer ones are. It appears that you have to remove the condensor fan motor and mounting bracket then maybe the pan will left up and over the compressor, or maybe there is enough room to lift the pan up and out the front over the condensor coils"
