It sounds like the belt that wraps around the drum and motor is broke. When the motor turns it pulls the belt which inturn rotates the drum!!!

Sounds like the belt is bad or the motor needs to be replaced. Unplug unit. When you open it up get a block of wood (a piece of 2x4 works) if your units are stacked on top of each other, pull the dryer towards you approx 2inches. You are going to push on the top of the dryer and insert the board underneath the dryer. The reason you pulled the dryer forward was to keep the dryer from slipping backwards while working on it. Now check the two bottom corners on the front of they dryer.occasionally there are screws holding the kick plate. Take these off, pull out and down and look for broken belts. Be sure to vacuum any loose lint while you have the unit open. Good luck.

These are awesome solutions, L1 or the black hot wire supplies the lights and one leg of the heater while L2 the red power wire completes the circuit for the heater and powers the board. A great test is this, if the light is on and the load doesnt go, bad load. In this case trace the L2 line and find where the power stops, the first is the interface and the same goes for Frigidaire. I would also get the part number from Sears, tell them you will wait for money and then look for other local sources, it is worth the wait to save 80 dollars for a back order.

SOURCE: My Kenmore Elite HE3 Dryer is not drying.

It may not be your heating element. Your dryer lint vent pipe out the back of the machine or maybe out the side may be plugged. You have to pull the machine out and clear that pipe or rebuild it out to a soffit vent or static vent if it is in the attic, or out through your crawl space. This will make a huge difference. If that hot air and moisture doesn't get out of the machine it just goes back into your clothes.
Good luck!!

SOURCE: Clean Dryer Lint Vent in Kenmore elite HE4

If you wish to clean the interior cabinet of the dryer follow these steps:

1. UNPLUG the dryer. Dangerous voltages are still present even with the dryer turned off.

2. Open the dryer door and remove the lint screen. IMPORTANT: You must remove the lint screen first in order to remove the blower fan housing.

3. Remove the lower toe panel directly below the dryer door by removing the screws under the bottom front edge of the panel. With the screws removed, the panel will drop down, then come off. NOTE: For better access, you can prop the front feet of the dryer up (a 2x4 works well).

4. Loosen the screws on the blower fan housing directly below the drum and remove. There's usually a small clip holding the cover in at the bottom that you may need to pull out to release. NOTE: You may also have to disconnect the auto dry sensor plug (yellow wires with white plug - use a small screwdriver to release the locking tabs) and/or ground wire to accommodate removal of the cover.

You should now have access to the dryer interior and the blower fan squirrel cage motor. Take the time to clean out the blower fan housing cover as well. A long bristle brush made for dryers works well at removing any lint inside the dryer in the hard to reach places, followed by vacuuming.

NOTE: After cleaning, you may experience a slight burning odor. This is normal as lint gets stirred up in the cleaning process and can settle on the heating components. The odor should dissipate after a short period of use.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: my kenmore elite dryer will not start up,all the

There are some things about the "Check Lint Screen" light you should know. It's a reminder light and doesn't actually check anything. When you select a cycle it should come on and stay on until the Start button is pressed, the door is open or after 5 minutes.

If the Control Lock is not turned on then you may have to replace the console/interface to resolve this problem.

A hard reset is used to describe a reboot process. With the dryer stopped and the control turned off (if possible), unplug the dryer to completely disconnect electrical power. If it is difficult to reach the dryer outlet plug, you can shut off the breaker for the dryer to completely disconnect electrical power. Leave the electrical power completely disconnected for 5 minutes. This will sometimes reset a control board that is stuck due to a power surge or glitch encountered through the electrical lines. Plug the dryer back in to see if the control will operate properly.

If the control does not reset and work normally after the hard reset, then you could have a stuck "touch up" button on the control. The image below describes a diagnostic test mode that can be entered to check the buttons on the control. If you are able to enter this mode, you can check to see if the "touch up" button is stuck. You may not be able to enter this mode with a stuck button, bad user interface control board or a failed machine control board. If the dryer will not go into this diagnostic test and the console will not respond to other cycle selections, then I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair the dryer. It is likely that the user interface control board will need to be replaced.

I'm guessing that your belt my have been misaligned, which means, no problem!

But, I recently had a machine that had a motor that would not turn, only hummed. I vacuumed the lint, then blew the lint out of the motor with a compressor, and vacuumed again. It still needed a push start to get the motor turning, but it starts on its own, now. So, if you have a lot of lint buildup, it can eventually stop the motor

Dryer check filter light keeps blinking and dryer will not start cleaned lint filter and nothing happened display on control board blinks when dryer is turned on and that's about it can you assist dyer...

I had the same problem, Check Filter light blinking and beeping, could not select drying type or start dryer. Short story, turned out to be the Less time button was stuck pushed in. Long story, a week before I had replaced the drum rollers and belt, everything was working fine for the week after then this problem. Totally by accident, after trying all the recommended actions (unplugging, pushing buttons, etc.) leaning on the right front corner would stop the beeping and allow the machine to work. Pushing all the buttons, I found the Less time button would not click. Apparently, when I took the control panel off to change the rollers and belt I flexed the control panel enough to misaligne the button and switch. Pulling the back of the control panel loose and making sure the push button and switch were aligned and working correctly everything works fine now.

Drying humming but drum will not turn

the humming is from the motor, try turning the drum by hand,if you can turn the drum the motor is bad, it might start after you spin the drum but it will stop again,if you can't turn it the belt could be locked up on something or something is stuck in the blower wheel located underneath the lint filter, you might have to remove the duct that the lint filter slides into to get at whatever might be stuck in the wheel.

Model number 110-85866-400. Will not turn on

unplug dryer, you have to take bottom panel off, take out lint filter and then remove the duct that that lint filter goes into, you'll see it on left side when you remove the bottom panel,if it died you could have blown the thermal fuse part number 3392519,you will find this on the right top side of the blower wheel housing it's white and has two wires going to it,pull one wire off and check it with a meter, also go outside and check the flapper were it vents outside, that could be blocked,i blow the vent line out with a leaf blower if it's a long run.if you're having lint problems that should take care of it,also if you have a shop vac,put it on blow and blow off the motor, and you can blow all the dust that' in the back forward so you don't have to remove the drum.hope this helps

I took lint filter out to clean it and forgot to put it back in, I started gas dryer and it stopped, I believe there is a sock stuck in there somewhere. Does the front come off and what do I need to take...

Hello Kims987K,
You may want to check circuit breakers in your Breaker Panel to see if the one for your Dryer is tripped, and reset it if it is. Even though you have a Gas Dryer the Drum still operates on electricity, so without it the Dryer wouldn't function at all.
I don't think that the sock is stopping your Dryer, as the lint filter just filters lint from your Dryer's exhaust. So, even with the lint filter out a sock couldn't fit through the small holes in the drum that ventilate it (that's how the lint gets to the filter). I guess there could be a switch that detects whether the filter is in the machine and cut it off though, so you may try to re seat the lint filter (replace the lint screen/filter making sure it's in all the way), and try to start it again. If you look inside the Drum and see any way that a sock or anything else could get out other than through the door opening? That would be a problem.
If the filter was missing for several loads of laundry? Then you could have a restriction in the exhaust causing a thermal overload circuit to cut it off too (prevents the Dryer from catching fire). Does the light come on in the Dryer when you open the door?
From the information you posted, all I got is that it's a Gas Dryer that won't run and you appear to be missing a sock, so more detailed information will probably help in finding your solution.
I'll check back, and Good Luck finding that sock.
