No, it will not be compatible. If you would like to play PS1/PS2, and eventually PS3 games, look into buying a original launch "Backwards Compatible" PS3. The model is CECHAO1. Good luck.
Try another keyboard if at all possible. Port sill not working?
You can bypass the PS2 port for your key board. You'll need to buy a PS2 to USB Y cable. Places like Best Buy have them. Here is a picture of the cable;

Let me tell you something from ma personal experience about ps2 controllers...........PS2 CONTROLLERS DOES NOT WORK MORE THEN 6 MONTHS................yeah thats true............if you are using it carefully life may exceed...........take care while using PS2 controller because mostly controllers are damaged from sockets becarefull not to rotate PS2 controller wire or hitting it on floor(lolx i did that myself once)..........buy a new controller for your PS2.......!
its all about dualshock 2 controllers. if you get these, it will work for all games. see, a dualshock 2 controller is like the head of a pack. it works for everything. you probably have a dualshock or just a ps1 controller. try buying a dualshock 2 controller, and you shouldnt have that problem anymore. proud to be part of your help.

There might be a problem with the keyboards PS2 port. You can bypass the PS2 port all together by buying a PS2 Y-adapter to usb port. This Y adapter will allow you to plug your PS2 mouse & keyboard into it and than you plug the other end into a free usb port. You do not have to plug the PS2 mouse in if you do not want to. Just plug in the keyboard. If your keyboard functions than there is a prolem with the keyboard's PS2 port. The PS2 Y-adapter to USB runs about $12.00 to $15.00. You can find one at Wallmart.
