How to open a pg191? - ASUS PG191 LCD Monitor

I'd suggest the problem is possibly down to blown capacitors in the power board.

Setup.exe has a nasty habit of setting up partial programs that create problems. When I have to down load drivers from the internet I go to the driver mfg. and download the free version from their site. All you will have to do is click and follow detailed instructions. First go into add/remove programs and remove all previous attempts to download the drivers. Even check your documents, sometimes a file will sneak in there. The computer is going to complain and tell you the world will come to an end if you delete then Hit delete, I haven't made it come to an end yet! It works for me and I work on all kinds of old and new monitors. Hope this is at least some help. dhgill1949

gietvinc, Your best bet would be to view video clips of "lcd monitor disassembly" and "lcd monitor repair" on YOUTUBE first. If monitor pedestal has been removed the rear plastic cover will need to be inspected for any screws to be removed from around the perimeter of the unit. Most units just snap together. Watch the pros on YOUTUBE. Do not use sharp knives or other dangerous cutting instruments that could lead to trip to local hospital "ER" which will only add to the cost of your monitor repair!!! 12fixlouie

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps).
