I am using a compaq presario laptop with an inbuilt touchpad and an inbuilt left and right mouse.the problem is that the left mouse is "sticky".as i move about the touchpad, not touching the left mouse, the page can change to the link which is below the pointer.other times, parts of the line are suddenly highlited in black, again without touching the left mouse.the left mouse is phsically a bit loose, compared with the right mouse.is there some way it can easily be tightened? what can i do? thanking you in advance.
Unless your left mouse button has been severely damaged, it is unlikely that a loose button is the cause of your problem. More likely, it is your touchpad. Chances are your touchpad is set to click when tapped. Oversensitive touchpads can click randomly when you're dragging your finger across the touchpad.
To test this, position your cursor over a link (or other button) but don't press the left mouse button. Instead, lightly tap the touchpad itself. If the link or button is clicked, go to your Control Panel and adjust the Mouse options so your touchpad no longer clicks when tapped. It's usually a setting titled "tap to click" or something along those lines.

i'm on a fixed income and i'm buying a v2000 and you can see in the picture that is worn down and the seller said sometimes it doesn't work right. What must i do to put a new touchpad in it ?
THANKS
improved solution.go to control panel then mouse>device settings>tapping> then disable tapping by unticking "enable tapping" then click ok. previous solution of decreasing touchpad sensitivity made the cursor hard to move about.this is a problem of high humidity levels.
I have the same problem with v2000 but when i go to control panel, mouse, then theres no device setting!! any help would be appreciated. thanks
My button also has the same problem. It feels "mushy" to the touch instead of clicking like it should. I haven't had any liquid or food around the keyboard, so I can't think of a reason for this. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
Thanks so much.
my right clicker does not work, left one does, and the setting are in spanish cuz my dad and mom speak spanish, thats why idk were to go
I'm running Linux and can't seem to get these options to work. Any one have any ideas for how to turn off my touchpad or at least make it less sensitive.
