This is an older picture-tube projection TV.
There are just a few things that can affect all three color tubes at the same time. One of these is "Blanking" and the other is the High Voltage.
Blanking happens when there is not a good signal to the TV, and the high voltage and therefore picture are shut off to protect the high voltage system. Make sure there is a good, strong signal to test it from, like a DVD player, otherwise the TV could blank off from low signal levels. A signal good enough to produce sound may not be good enough to keep the picture on, so that is not a good indication of good signal.
The other, High Voltage, is complicated and dangerous to work on and best left to a qualified technician to work on. High voltage in a TV can hurt or even kill you if you get across it.
