Test the voltage to the bulbs and see if it meets specs. May be a power supply problem.

If your TV has already fully adjusted in brightness set up?, and there will be no good picture results?...try to adjust the "SCREEN-Screw" at the flyback slowly. If the picture still dark'?. the picture tube has need to rejuvenate.

Did you try going into the menu and increasing the picture brightness?

Problem could be in the Light Engine and it may need to be replaced. which is also known as the optical Engine PN# TSCOP7A-SAA

have you tryed adjusting the picture in the menu section! this may help!! or on back of tv is adjusters those may help as well.

Sorry to tell you but JVC is a well-known un-reliable brand and if it's cheap, probably even worse. U may have screen burn from leaving a games console on while plugged into the tv, even if its not showing the game, it will burn it onto the screen. :(

motherboard needs replaced, to test take a flashlight TV on and shine on screen from above at an angle, do you see a faint image, replace MB

My jvc 27" tv was so dark I could hardly see any night scenes, even with the bright all the way on. If you push the sleep button, let go, then hold down the video and display (together), the service menu will come on. Scroll down to #7 (too dark) and adjust the brightness there. Works immediately.
