Sounds like you blew the motor by driving it after the light came on.

It sounds like you have a misfire. Does it miss more under a load or does it miss primarily,at idle. If under load, it is likely ignition related. Spray water on the wires and coils with the engine running. If they are carbon tracking it will be very obvious as the engine will miss worse.

check your spark plug wires. it sounds like cracked spark plug wire that is arcing. the best way to check this is at night , start engine and look for sparks around the plug wires.

Check out the AboutAutomobile.com site for NHTSA complaints. I believe there was a defect in the cylinder heads for this engine. The redesigned heads have a different suffix letter than the stock heads.

For a time, the Manufactuer was paying for the repair.

hi it sounds like to me that you need to check your valve clearances. It sounds like as the engine warms up, the metal expands and the valves then do not close fully, hence the miss. The engine cools and the metal contracts, valve clearance is good, engine runs fine. Check the tolerances right before you start the engine, then after it starts to miss.

Sounds like you have no coolant in the radiator and your engine is overheating. And without coolant the temperature gage would not show that the engine was getting hot. Let the engine cool off, then remove the radiator cap and see if there is any antifreeze in the radiator. If it's empty, then you must have a leak. And the missing engine makes me think the antifreeze may have leaked past the intake gasket into the engine. Check the oil and look for evidence of water or antifreeze contamination.

If your check engine light is blinking, you can take your car to Autozone, Advanced Auto or other parts house and ask them to get the engine codes. This ios a FREE service. It sounds like your camshaft positioning sensor, Cam Positioning sensor is bad. This is how comuterized systems tell where the cam and crackshaft are to set the timing. It sounds like you have timing issues.

sounds like you could have a leaky valve..

i unpluge 1 plug wire at a time and see if 1 doesnt seem to change the sound of the engin to much. then you will know what plug is doing it and check those valves "exhaust/intake"..

or even check to see if that plug may have oil on it for that could be valve seals or oil ring on piston that would cause a miss..
