Do u have installed recently, some software?
Try to boot up pressing the F8 button, when the menu appears select the option "Windows in safe mode" if u can boot to windows. View our software installed.
If it is not software try, boot whit the windows installation disk enter to the setup and select the option repair, u will go to a DOS prompted window (all black whit white letters) must appear "c:\"
used the command "chkdsk /f /r" let it run he will try to find any problem in the disk.

SOURCE: freeze after boot up

hmm... given that it boots up fine into safe mode, i think there's a strong possibility that the problem is virus or spyware related.

i would see if you can run a virus scan with some good programs, check your startup processes to see if you find anything out of the ordinary, etc.

if you do find something or also think its a virus, reloading windows will always take care of that, and definitely speed up your system.

hope this helps

SOURCE: My Compaq V2000 beeps twice & freezes

It sounds like the RAM is either not compatable or is bad. Put the old RAM back in and try again. Also the V2000 and HP DV2000 is in recall for mother board problems.

What is wrong when my compaq v2000 beeps 2 times loud when I turn it on but no boot

Beep codes are unique to each brand of computer:
Compaq v2000
1 short with 1 long beep = bad bios. Must reload bios from disc.
2 short beeps = general bios failure
for more - do a google search for "v2000 Beep Codes" and go to the link for "bioscentral" - all are listed.

Installed more memory into Compaq V2000

The new ram you have installed, is it the same speed/type as what is already in the system?
Take out the new ram and leave the old in. Try and boot. If all ok, swap out the old ram for the new and see if you can boot. If the system does not boot when trying one of the above, you know it's bad ram. If the system boots with the old ram and the new ram installed seperately, i'ts likely that you have two different types of ram. Check your old ram and see what spec it is. Your new ram should be the same. Compaq do not list a four beep error on boot, but my guess is conflicting ram.

Computer turns on, but won't work afterwords

Hi,

Nev, the two loud beeping sound of the system when turning it on could be a problem with the memory or the system board.

Try disconnecting the power and take out the battery, then press and hold the power button for 5 seconds then look for the memory comparment and reseat it.

Keep me posted.

Thanks.

Compaq Presario V2000 fails to boot up

3 beeps is the Beep code for "Base 64KB RAM Failure". Lets hope that you are lucky and the problem is your memory. If you have two memory sticks in the computer, then try to take one of them out. Try different combinations such as swapping between the memory slots that are available. If you still getting the same error code, then your motherboard is shot.
