Question about Kenmore Elite 22.4 cu. ft. Bottom Freezer Refrigerator with Adjusta Cube Ice Maker

1 Answer

I've purchased a new ice maker through Sears Parts Online, Part Number D7824706Q. There are 3 adjustment knobs that can be turned with a screwdriver. I know one is for adjusting the water level or amount, which is located on the side. I have three questions. (1) What are the other two adjustments for? (2) Are all 3 factory set so I don't need to adjust them myself? (3) If not, what do I need to do?

Been three days and you have not received reply, would go to sears customer support and they are supposed to have live support, maybe they can help.

IF THE ICE MAKER IS OVERFLOWING, THE ADJUSTMENT SCREW WON'T HELP. ON MODULAR ICE MAKERS, THE BIG
WHITE GEAR ON THE FRONT BEHIND THE COVER HAS CIRCUIT TRACES ON ITS BACKSIDE THAT WILL ARC, BURNING THE PLASTIC GEAR, BRIDGING THE FILL CIRCUIT WITH ANOTHER TRACE, MORE THAN DOUBLING THE FILL TIME. THE MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. (GEAR IS NOT AVAILABLE BY ITSELF).THE MODULE IS THE SQUARE PLASTIC ASSEMBLY MOUNTED TO THE FRONT OF THE ICE MAKER WITH THREE SCREWS. INCLUDES THE MOTOR.

Corry unfortunately about the only and best way to fix that is to replace the ice maker itself the parts are expensive if you like but it's just not worth it to rebuild it that's my opinion ice maker click here=> http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Ice-Maker-Assembly/D7824706Q/915772?replacedManufacturerPartNumber=61005508?RCAID=35836 Ice Maker Assembly D7824706Q

Is there a way to adjust the ice maker so it turns off before the bin gets so full? The way it is, when you pull out the bin, ice falls out and all over the floor.

As you likely already know, the thin metal arm on the ice maker is tied to a sensor in the motor that is supposed to shut off when the ice level reaches a certain height in the tray. The motors are generally not adjustable, though some models have a small, clock-style adjustment on them with numbers 1-9 and a flat-head screwdriver slot in the middle to adjust up or down. If yours has this adjustment, it will be visible next to where the metal rod inserts into the motor on the door side of ice maker unit. If it does not, you should contact your dealer if under warranty service or replace the ice maker (not difficult to do...if you are handy at all it is generally (3) 5/16ths hex head bolts and one electrical cannon plug to remove and replace). You can order parts from many reputable supply houses online and save the $150 service charge if out of warranty.

Why is my ice maker filling up my ice tray with water then freezing it like a block of ice?

There are some adjustments that you can do if you carefully follow the instructions in the video below. I also have a Whirlpool Ice Maker Troubleshooting and Service Manual upon request. Your 67003753 Water Inlet Valve=> 67003753 Water Inlet Valve could be leaking and creating this block of ice. For most Whirlpool/Maytag brand ice makers is is cheaper to replace the core module part number=> D7824706Q Ice Maker Module. Reason being the individual parts add up to more than the cost of all those parts together. Now if interested you can request a Whirlpool Ice Troubleshooting Service Manual by filling out the capsha=> HERE Reason I don't place the manual's here because Whirlpool ask me not to do so, but I will be glad to send you one. The manual is the solution but the most complete module or replacing water valve is the cheapest route. Below is how it is explained a little simpler. If I can help you in any way please ask, Thanks, Sea Breeze

I have a Jenn-Air side by side refrigerator. JRSD209T. Water fills up the ice shute and runs into the floor. What stays in the freezer freezes in the chute. What do I need to change to fix this problem

From your description I'll gather you're not getting ice cubes either and need to replace the ice maker

Part # D7824706Q on the diagram labeled "Lights and Ice maker" it's item 1

This is from Sears so you can order and have it delivered to the house

Our icemaker had a red blinking light and wasn't working. We took out the bin and let it defrost - cleaned it out (turned it off). Then after it was clean put it back in the freezer - we switched it to...

The bimetal thermostat embedded inside your ice maker is what tells the water control valve to open on rear of refrigerator near floor where the water supply enters the refrigerator. That water valve has two sides. One for the water dispenser and other for ice maker. I will try to make this simple and in my words because Whirlpool now owns Maytag and its related brand names. They do not allow me to provide the service manual any longer so I need to place my on work here. Even with what I believe is the problem you may have a technician or someone that is comfortable working with electricity test the dual water control valve on back and near floor.
Test for continuity and resistance on both sides with power disconnected from dual water control valve. Both sides should show very close to the same amount of resistance. Use care testing water control valve because of the risk of shock especially if wet. Click Here=>

Number 13 in that photo is the Ice Makers thermostat Part Number=> Pin Style Icemaker Thermostat 627985
The dual Water Control valve is Part Number=> 61005626 Dual Water Control Valve
Another way of testing ice maker is to fill with tap water and turn on. If ice freezes and drops then the dual water control valve needs to be replaced. If not working then you have two options and that is a complete Ice Maker Assembly Part Number=> D7824706Q or replace parts.

The water will not come into the icemaker

On your model there are a couple possibilities. the most likely is the dual water control valve itself. The valve has two sides, one for dispenser and other for ice maker. You may test ice maker by filling with tap water and let freeze. If when frozen the ice maker dumps ice into ice bin and does not refill the for sure water control valve Part number Click here=> 61005626-2 the next more unlikely would be the Ice maker Module Click Here=> D7824706Q If need you may contact me here on Fixya or my Forum=> Appliance 911 My contact information is located above the Fixya Ad on my blog here=> Sea Breeze Appliance Parts and Technical Services, www.pcappliancerepair.com

If the unit is freezing well in the freezer and your ice bin is defrosting or ice is melting together it is your ice maker over filling the tray causing water to leak into the bin. You can purchase kits that contain all ice maker parts needed , it may be the ice maker and it may be the water inlet valve in the back , both come in the kit , go to sears parts on line with the model number from your unit.

Installed replacement Icemaker but will not dump new ice...

Either your freezer is not cold enough or you got a defective ice maker. It needs to be 15 degrees or colder to make ice. The water may be frooze but not cold enough to close the internal thermostat inside the ice maker. If your freezer is colder that 15 degrees, take the ice maker back to Sears, you got a lemon. Good luck!, Mack
