We are repairing a Ricoh Aficio 2852 copier having a an error saying Toner Supply has been depeleted even after trying two or three new toner supplies. The unti was thorougly cleaned and the hopper was replaced as advised from another forum . Two things I am trying to find out , I need to get into service mode but cannot due to the fact I cannot get the error to clear and/or the code I have does not seem to work. The service manual I purchased and in the section where it tells how to get into service mode it says ask your supervisor wtf? So that was no help. I resolved this exact same issue on another machine by replacing the hopper and starting with a brand new fresh toner but doesnt seem to be the case here. Any one know how to get into service mode on this or have any ideas?
Clear modes- 107 -hold down C button machine will enter service mode, in case it does not, open the right side door and front door then give it a try, it will enter service mode, but the fact is that for a depleted toner error you don't have to fight so hard, don't tamper the SP mode settings you are likely to land into some other problem & things will get complicated further. Install a genuine Ricoh toner and replace the developer along with cleaning of the TD sensor if a non Ricoh or compatible toner has been used previously.

The used toner bottle is not actually a bottle at all. Not sure what you emptied, but it sounds like the actual toner bottle itself. The waste toner is contained with in the transfer belt unit. When you open the right side cover, this is the unit that is attached to the door. It is a brown belt that provides transfer of the image to the drum and separates the paper from the drum. Remove this unit by locating the release levers on either side of the transfer unit (push both of them towards the machine). After removing, you will need to actually take the belt unit off of the transfer unit. To do this, remove the two tension springs on either side, and then take a small flat bladed scredriver and release the clips that hold it down (you will see when you get started). Once you get it off, you will see the long blade that actually scrapes the toner off the belt. Dump the waste toner out this end. You will need to shake it pretty hard. A better (and cleaner) option is to vaccum it out using the crevace tool on you vac. Just make sure you completely empty it. Now....do everything in reverse.
Hope this helps,
Chad

Did you follow the instuctions to shake gently then remove all tags prior to placing the toner? Is it a toner/drum unit. look underneath if theres a green drum. After market toner will not work.

Yes, the code is caused by toner getting into the laser unit. The laser unit likely only needs to be cleaned out. To do so, turn the machine of with the red rocker switch on left side of the machine. You will need to remove the front cover and the brown cover behind it. The mechanical counter is plugged into the brown cover so be careful not to damage the wires. The laser unit is the black plastic case you will see behind the brown cover. Be sure to remove the necessary screws and connectors. Be extra careful of the ribbon cable, it kinks easily and the contacts are easily damaged. The Laser unit will slide out, and you can remove the screws holding the top cover on. After removal, clean the interior of the case and mirrors. Do not use any liquid to clean it, preferrabley canned air and a lint free cloth. After cleaning, reassemble, turn the machine back on, and test.
