SOURCE: ED2KVEXVL Whirlpool refridgerator - not cooling in refridgerator

Tip: Most self-defrosting household refrigerators that loose part or all of their cooling in the freezer or fridge are having problems with the self-defrost system. Three components to check: defrost timer; defrost heater elements (esp. on side x side units); and evaporator fan. All cold air is normally produced in the freezer, then circulated via evaporator fan to the refrigerator section. About every 12 hrs. a defrost timer turns off the compressor, and turns on the defrost elements to melt the frost from the evaporator coils. This normally takes about 20 minutes to complete, then the timer turns off the heaters, and restores normal cooling operations. If the cycle does not complete properly, the coils will "ice up", restricting proper air circulation through the freezer and refrigerator sections. Worse yet is if timer sticks in defrost mode (rare), it will turn the freezer into an oven. If the defrost system seems to be working normally, then you should check the condensing coils for excess dirt, and vacuum &/or bush the dirt and lint out to restore proper head disipation. It's recommended that you vacuum out a condensor that's located on the bottom of the unit once a year. You should also check the condensor fan (if present) for proper operation. If the condensor fan fails, heat can not be properly released from the condensor, and will cause the refrigerator to 'run all the time' yet not cool efficiently. There are many things to check on modern frost-free refrigerators, before turning to the actual sealed refrigeration system and compressor unit.

SOURCE: The door seals on the

Ok
Most refrigerators have resistance heaters around the door seals to keep down condensate and "sweating "during the summer. Check your model to see if there is a manual moisture control switch inside. You would then be able to turn them off in winter. If there is no switch, then the fridge automatically sets the heaters and you're good to go.

hope this helped

Why does the rubber sealer on refridgerator door and freezer door get hot

Inside the frame is a warm bit of pipework, or sometimes a mullion heater, that stops the seal freezing to the frame.

HAVE A ED5FHEXT REFRIGERATOR MAKES A POPPING NOISE ON BOTTOM OF DOOR EVERY TIME YOU OPEN.

there is a magnetic vinyl covered seal glued all around the door frame to seal the refridgerator from escaping cold. If this seal has come loose, it will adhear to the door frame a little after opening and then be pulled back and make a slapping sound. Check this seal to be sure it is not torn loose.

Why is the door seal warm on whirlpool refridgerator

Your refrigerator has a defrost wiring system in the seal to keep moisture out.

They run continuously on older units and some newer ones too.

Depending on the age of the fridge, some rarely have thermostats or timers on the defrost seals. But like I said they're rare to have a thermostat on the seal heater.

Those seals with their defrost wiring inside are some of the reason that manufacturers changed the defrost approach to get energy saving ratings.

Auto defrost, timers and defrost thermostats are state of the art now and cost less for you to run in your house.

If your symptom is new, or you notice the door seal heat too hot to touch, then your seals have a problem. You need to call for service because overheating defrosters may not shut off.

Warm seals are most likely a normal condition for defrost system on your fridge.

Luck to you.

The refridgerator door is not sealing properly and the magnetic seal between the refrig door and the freexer door is hot.

Heat the seals with a hair dryer and then pull it tight - strap it tightly shut - you can also use some super glue to keep it in place while it dries.

Exterior panel between freezer and refridgerator that magnetic strip sticks to is very hot.

Have seen it many times before especially on Whirlpool fridges before. It is not detrimental to the running of the fridge but has the tendency to warp the door fridge seals. In my opinion, when the fridge was piped up, instead of running the high side (hot pipe from the compressor), through the radiator first and then to the fridge body, they have done it in the opposite way. As a result, All the heat from the compressor is going firstly into the fridge frame to eventually exiting and then going to the radiator.(Thats why it is so hot between the doors). To rectify this, you need a technician to swap the pipes over at the back as already discussed, then regass..

Door seal is very hot

Hi,

This may be a sign of a failed condenser fan or an overly dirty condenser that could lead to problems. Here is a link to instructions I put together on taking care of this. Let me know if this helps.

Thanks.

The refridgerator runs but does not cool or freeze anything. There is a clicking noise everytime it tries to cool.

sounds like the compressor has seized and the click is the relay starter to get it going. if it is running and getting very hot the likelyhood is that there is a refridgerant leak.
