It sounds like you have already diagnosed your problem. You probably do need a new water inlet valve. The following link explains how to replace one:

Replacement parts can be purchased from any of the following websites:

The part number you will need for model RAX4232JQ0 is: 285805 and lists for about $30. You can view an illustration of the part as item 18 under the "Controls and Rear Panel" parts listing.

All would know? rax4232kq0-have belt

If the model number you provided is correct, this washer does NOT have a drive belt. Whirlpool manufactured top loaders (such as Roper) use a motor coupling in place of a drive belt and are known as "direct-drive" systems. No agitation, or spinning, associated with a grinding noise are the usual symptoms. The washer should still have the ability to drain, however.

The following link explains how to access the coupler and replace it, if necessary:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574231-replacing_a_motor_coupling

The part number is included with the instructions I provided. Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

All these sites are reputable and offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites I listed also include helpful exploded view parts diagrams to assist you in locating and properly identifying the parts you need. If you do not wish to order parts on line, use the part numbers I provided and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. The coupler is usually sold as part of their in-store inventory. The average cost of a motor coupling is only about $15.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

I have found these sites to be reputable and provide great service. Prices differ between them, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts diagrams to assist you with locating and identifing the parts you need. If you do not wish to order parts on line, look up the part numbers on the Sears site and take them to your nearest appliance parts retailer. These parts are commonly found in their in-store inventory.

If you have any questions about this repair, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Top Load Roper Washer does not agitate during wash/rinse cycle

You may need to replace agitator dogs located inside the agitator or the drive coupler located above the motor. It dependis on which model you have.

Changing a belt on roper top load washer

There is no belt on a roper. It called a drive coupler. its direct drive. Go to sears online and go to the parts section and put in your model number. Look at the diagrams and it will show you where it is located (easier to show you than to tell you.)
