Hi, I had the same issue with my Toshiba C660. As I wanted to protect my data I did back it up and then had the hard disk replaced by my local computer shop. They replaced the drive and even copied all the data and programs onto the new drive. What they did say before they started was that they would not guarantee that everything would copied over if the disk was failing. Cost me 50 for everything but obviously costs will vary.

You didn't ask any question ....but you already know the answer. The drive is most likely now a paperweight.
If you have critical data to recover, you can contact Drive Savers ...they're pricey, but they're good!
Hope this helps - remember to rate! :)

that will be expensive. i just went to microcenter and asked them, they said many hundreds of dollars just to look at it, then like 1600 for the cheapest recovery...
I would
1. stop using it immediately. (after an error like that, you may have only minutes of life left on it)
2. get a 25 dollar external enclosure to put the drive into. If it's IDE make sure you get an IDE enclosure, if SATA, get SATA compat. external enclosure.
3. get another computer, o rgo to a friends house, etc, and try to read your data on their computer after plugging in your hard drive inside the external enclosure.
4. if you can see it, rush like mad to copy the data thats important to your friends computer before the drive is 100% dead.
microcenter and similar stores have external hard drives at $129 dollars for a terabyte. BUY ONE! :-)
Good luck
PS: rumors go around that if you freeze the hard drive in your freezer for an hour, it helps get the data off, dont know if this is in fact true. Once the drive is dead, it's dead. You cant do much about it unless youre willing to part with a lot of money.
SOURCE: there is a message failure predicted on hard disk
Your hard drive is about to fail. You need to replace the hard drive and, if you have any data on your current one, you need to back it up immediately. Every minute your computer is turned on means that the hard drive could crash at any time.

Sounds like you have an bad sector in with the windows system files. Yes backup now! I would buy another hard drive, you can try to re format and put you stuff back on, but for the price of hard drive buy an new one.
SOURCE: Hi!im using a toshiba a210 laptop.i put it on some
Your drive is failing and you should back up any important data you need onto CD/DVD or an external USB device (hard drive/pen drive). The drive may keep working for a while but your system is warning you that it has detected a critical error with the drive and failure is imminent.
