When you use a glass and try to get water, if you hear a click or buzzing sound, the water switch is working, if not it is an electrical problem, the water solenoid valve could be bad, or the switch. One other thing to check is the filter on the water line. Some have an extra filter. Turn the water off, disconnect the filter and see if you can blow through the filter. There is a screen filter just before the water valve check it to.

In the water supply line to the refrigerator is normally a saddle type valve where the water supply is connected to your house water line. Trace it back and shut the valve off fully then turn it back on. When some work is done to any part of your household water system sediment may have lodged in the saddle valve causing a restriction. Closing the saddle valve and reopening it may dislodge the restriction.

Below is a picture of the fountain parts. I believe the controls inside the fountain are defective and will need replaced. Temporarily disconnect the control valve to the Fountain control plug this will allow the ice maker to continue to work. Let me know if you need more help and assistance to solve this problem. I have a Maytag model 2556 AE refridgerator. The ice maker works but the ice and water dispenser, the light and everything else on the front of the unit doesn't work. Is there a fuse that operates this or is there other problems? Thank you Bob

Hi, there is a micro-switch at the filter which shuts off the supply and operation while the filter is out of the unit. That switch is still open, so the dispenser thinks you are still replacing the filter. Try taking the filter out and putting it back in. Make sure any locking mechanism is fully engaged. In the meantime, I will see if I can find the service manual for your unit.
