How do you change the batteries on a furreal cat?
Pull back the plush flap on the bottom of the Cat. Use a Phillips/cross head screwdriver to loosen screw in battery compartment cover (screw stays attached to cover) on the bottom. Insert 3 x 1.5V "C"/LR14 alkaline batteries. Replace cover and tighten screw.
First, calling poor Grace at Hasbro will provide fruitless. Hasbro does not make any parts for the full size FurReal Ponies, they have nothing in stock and cannot help you. I, however, can. I am going to post a link to a distressing site that turns the normal FurReal Pony into a fire breathing demon. However, in the process, you can see the diagram of the skeleton of the pony and head. You can search for other links but this is pretty comprehensive. Just don't open when kids are around.
When any battery-operated toy seizes to work 3 checks solve 90% of the problems: 1) are the battery still firmly in place. If not: secure them and try the toy again. 2) have the battery been replaced recently. If not; replace and try the toy again. 3) Does the toy rattle (more than usual) when you shake it. yes, it's really broken.
Some stores replace the toy if it's still fairly new, or a short letter/email to Hasbro stating how much your children enjoy the Furreal Friends Cuddle Chimp and how sad they are now that their new friend is "going away" could make a difference.
Hasbro only offers the following replacement parts on their site: http://www.hasbro.com/furreal/en_US/shop/browse/FurReal-Friends/Parts-Refills/_/N-1rZ32ZgtZch/Ne-8u
Sounds like you need to reset it. If you need help finding the reset button, go to www.hasbro.com and click on Customer Service, then click on Instructions and find your toy to pull up the PDF file of the instructions. Hope that helps!
