Electronic stratego I can get the lights to go on, but the sound will not work....can I take the board apart you think and fix it?

it sounds like something has came loose. you have to take the control panel apart and you should find a grey flat plastic cabel about 2 1/2 to 3 inches wide.hook it back up and maybe use some electrical tape to keep it in place and that should fix it.

This game won't work on Windows 7 in any of the compatability modes. The only way to get this game to work is to run it in windows xp. The good news is that you can get free software from Oracle called virtualbox. Using virtualbox if you have a xp installation disk, you can create a virtual windows xp that runs within your windows 7. Stratego plays fine from within a virtual windows xp, provided that you play from the cd-disk not the virtual hard drive. Install the game normally in the virtual windows xp environment. After installation, to play the game, you must be in virtual windows xp, then double click the CD/DVD drive icon that looks like a bomb. If you try playing from any of the shortcut Stratego (also looks like bombs) launchers or the stratego.exe file installed on your virtual hard drive, the game will not work.Just go to My Computer in the virtual windows xp, and double click the cd/dvd bomb icon, and the game starts up fine.

I bought some games from the thirft store and one of the games had Stratego instructions in it. I have no need for it and was going to throw it away. Came on here looking for "Hangman" instructions... no luck for me... but I can mail you the instuctions to your game if you want?

These have a crossover inside as well as a fuse. If it is blown the link is gone and only the horns will work.

This is a semiconductor or capacitor thermal problem. You will have to be able to get to the circuit boards. With a can of Electronic Cold Spray (freon), you turn the unit on until it heats up and the sound goes out. Then, try spraying transistors and components once at a time, until the sounds comes back on. This will be the bad part. You will have to unsolder it and take it to Radio Shack or electronic parts store, or possibly order one online (google the part number, or value on the capacitor, etc.). Problems like these are usually transistors, and they usually only cost a few dollars (maybe $25 at the most). Inspect solder joints to see if they're cracked, or discolored (indicating a "cold-solder" joint, which you can resolder with fresh solder applied. The hardest part of fixing this type of problem, is that you have to sometimes take it all apart to get at the back of the circuit board to unsolder the bad part. Take pictures as you take it apart- they will help you putting it back together. Good luck!

Take it aparts,using a hair dryer in low heat about 3 or 4 inches from the pcb board.

I believe this is related to the GPU (graphics processor unit). I think the only cheap fix is to take apart the unit, use a heat gun and lightly go over the board. This has worked for me about a year ago.
