This fan can also be oiled if needed, and it will also wear out and need to be replace occasionally. This fan usually will go off when the door is opened, so sometimes it makes it difficult to figure out exactly what is happening. By holding the door switch in manually, you can get the fan to run and troubleshoot it more easily. Make sure to remove all power before trying to service the fan. Spinning fan blades do not play nice with your hands!<br />

<p>For many refrigerators you will have to remove some covers or even the whole bottom of the freezer to get to this fan for replacement. Checking the exploded views at appliance parts websites can give you an idea of where the fan is located and what must be removed to get to it for replacement.<br />
