Possible causes could be a dirty condenser coil or inoperative condenser fan motor.

Sound like its terminal if over heating get a new one as poss a fire hazzard

Pull the fridge out from the wall and remove the lower panel and you will find the fan is either not blowing (which will have to be replaced) or hung on something that you can remove to get it going. Also the coils could be stopped up and need to be cleaned. Hope this is helpful.

Check to see if the compressor is running and is it hot?

Check the back. See if the the compressor is getting very hot. Carefull not to burn urself. Cause a bad compressor gets extremely hot if that is the problem. Also if there is frost built up inside the freezer then defrost it completey by putting hot water in a pot inside the freezer.

If it has a fan in it, it's self defrosting. The moving air burns away the frost and 8 out of every 24 hours, the defrost timer will turn a heating element in the cooling coils, to melt away any ice buildup.
If it isn't a self defrost model, you can safely defrost it woth a pan of hot water. I also use a spray bottle woth hot water to help the process. DON'T use anything electrical to make the heat. Water can drip into or onto it and you could get electrocuted.

That's the defrost heater. The defrost sensor has failed. The freezer has to be taken apart to find the sensor. It is usually round, with a couple of wires going to it.

Your defrost drain tube is clogged up. Remove the ice and look for the top of a drain tube about 3/8-1/2" in diameter. Once the ice is gone, use a meat baster (turkey baster) full off hot water stuck in the top of the drain tube and blast hot water through to clean it out. Do this several times with about 4 cups of hot water so you don't over flow the drain pan and flood the floor

There is no problem at all. The outside of the freezer is hot because it is rejecting heat from the inside of freezer compartment to the outside surroundings, this is a normal refrigeration cycle. As for the seals being hot, this may be to prevent the door from freezing shut. i know that commercial and industrial freezers have heated seals for this reason.

My Maytag side by side is 7 years old. Bar between fridge and freezer just began getting very, very hot also? What can we do to repair? Does the condenser fan motor need to be replaced?
