No thats not normal real JACK HAMMERS on AIR ??? but its not Milwaukee not Bosch not Dewalt but a China brand? if you are have a real jack hammer then its not the right collum because its placed under Hammer drills? and you have also not possible speaking about maybe a little weight rotary hammer ? because ONLY real demolition and jackhammers are very specially made for the long lasting jobs !!! but the weight and power is very important by use the right tool for the right job the most rotary hammers ( exept brands like Hilti and Duss) are not made for long lasting jobs and are made for only working for a short time. its also makes the great price difference between a hammerdrill a rotary hammer a real demolition or a real jackhammer is much higher price. The tools on air Atlas Copco or Ingersoll for the hard and heavy jobs
If you have bought your tool by a hardware store and it is a real jack hammer go immediately back its possible that you are wrong informed by the seller or the budget was the fact. about the price for the tool maybe you have a real jackhammer but have choose a to little model size machine to do the job or its a budget brand online bought China machine. Its a simple question but a hard answer, difficult questions do not exist but difficult answers sometimes.
Regard and luck by warranty and a very small change maybe it is just only a factory flaw.

Sounds like your hinge pins are wearing out. You can get a hing pin and bushing set either at the dealer or any auto parts store. You'll need a jack and a block of wood, or some rubber matting to protect the door. Open the door and place the jack under the door and raise the jack just enough to support the door. Using a hammer, I use a brass hammer but a steal hammer will work, drive the hinge pins out one at a time. With the hinge pin driven out you'll be able to see the wear in the hinge plate, then you install the bushings required to " realign" the pin holes and then reinstall the hinge pin. Sometimes the holes are badly elongated and on the later models were the hinge is welded I remove the door and build the wear area with a wire welder. The bushing method usually works well for most. could be quite a few things, check the cord for a break that might have shorted the outlet. Also this tool requires 20 amp service so it could have affected the brushes, switch or other major electrical parts. Unless you are mechanically inclined and have a volt ohms meter I would suggest taking for repair.

This is an older, discontinued model Makita that only works as a hammer drill. It does not have the dial selector the newer models have to switch from 'drill' to 'hammer drill' to just 'hammer'. If you need, there's a parts breakdown and user manual available at:

You should be able to go to an electric motor repair shop and they can order them for you.Also check tool repair shops in your area.

Bad piston seals and/or bad cylinder walls. The best option for you would be to have a professional shop rebuild and reseal the hammer. Not to say you aren't able to do the work yourself... but the shop will guarantee the work and save you some bucks if it goes bad again. Definately cheap insurance on a piece of serious demolition equipment.
