SOURCE: tractor wont drive or engage electric clutch.

It thinks you aren't sitting on the seat.
There are 2 wires and a switch under the seat. The plug may have come off, the connections might be bad, or the switch might be bad.

SOURCE: i need help replacing the

The drive belt connects to the fron of the machine Just above the PTO clutch. connected to the vertical crank on the engine. It slips through a series of pullies to the back side od the mower. One pully will be on a tention spring. that is your golden ticket to getting the tention you need.
hello sir,
Looking at the pullys. for routing your new belt. V pullies for the inside portion of the belt and flat pullies for the outside.

You can usualyl take the chassis and pedals off as needed. the pebals have pins holding them on.
the seat has a safty switch that gets unplugged.

There are bolts hidden under the foot map as well which snaps up and down careful with these as that mat will never be the same if you break the clips.

THe back of the mower near and above the gastank you will see a pull thats ontop of a hydrostatic pump thats the last pully.

I have done these before without removing the body. However its not easy and you had better be limber.

Ohh and of course remove any decking under the mower or drop it all the way down for easier access.

HEAVY VIBRATION OF MOWER DECK (CRAFTSMAN17.5 HORSE TRACTOR?)

Even new blades can be out of balance, but my guess would be either the other blade spindle, or the tensioner pulley bearing.

My craftsman 17hp lawn tractor shutters bad when releasing the clutch pedal. is it the clutch and where is it located?

Its not really a clutch, clutch/brake pedal when pressed will release belt pressure which stops pulley from turn axle. When predded all the way down it mechanically applies brakes. The vibration is from a bad pully that the drive belt rides on or a bad belt. Look for chucks of belt missing. With engine off put on parking brake and manually wiggle each pulley that drive belt rides on to see if there is any play. No play should be present. Good luck.

Electric clutch adjustment

.012" is the recommended air gap for the electric clutch. Use a feeler guage in the slots beside the nuts and check in circular pattern. Go at least 3 complete circles with your guage when adjusting.

Hope this helps,

Belt is slipping off pulley

your should have a tension spring on the idler pulley. that maintains the tension on the drive belt. check to make sure you have the right belt and that is not worn or stretched out. also check to make sure your variable drive assay is working

Problems accelerating / losing power

Mine did the exact same thing. It was the drive belt. Take the deck off, loosen the belt shield on the clutch pulleys (under the frame below the seat) and take the old belt off. You will have to disconnect the wiring to the electric clutch, route the belt over the motor pulley and through the clutch pulleys... and over the transmission pulley. It took me about an hour... not bad to do. It will be easier to jack up the front of the tractor so you can get under it easier.
