You can try Leawo Blu-ray Player which is totally free for Windows and Mac users. It can not only support XVID and DVIX playback but also support more than 180 other formats so you don't have to download and install other codec packs.

For DVD ROM discs, data files in DivX 3.11 / 4.x / 5.x / 6 format can be played. If it's not playing, then there's a custom codec the video must have been created in, and the player won't be able to playback

Why is the Denon S102 dvd player freezing? ... My Denon S-102 does not load CD's. No problems with DVD's and other functions.

This is basically a problem with the optical pick up. Try wipe it with dry cotton wool. If this does not work, change the optical pick up altogether. Make sure you replace with similar part.

Hello there, Something I cant understand, my

Your DVD player will accept only Divx disc ( AVI files ) So use an encoder to convert your files into AVI before you write them.
The standard DVD is a format called MPEG 2 and don't confuse it with MPEG4.
Download the program for free from the link given below for your conversion.

1. Speaker wire broke at connector. Where can I buy a replacement? 2. What is the preset code that will allow this Denon to be controlled by a universal remote?

I ordered a new pair of speaker cables through a local Denon retailer from the Denon distributor in Montreal. $50 +$25 shipping + tax - 2 to 3 weeks they said. Ron

The 5500 doesn't recognize the files on my ipod, which are mainly cd's impoted to itunes, so i converted all the files to MP3 but it still isn't recognizing the files. what do i do?

Actually there are 2 possible solutions to your problem. When you plug in your Ipod or USB drive into the Denon HS5500 the machine will put a file on the drive called "Denon_DJ". This file needs to be deleted each time you add new mp3's to your ipod or usb device or your new files wont be shown.
The second has to do with what type of mp3 you are using and what sample rate it was created with.
For instance I record music with my computer and keyboards. I like to record in 96KHZ because it sounds so much nicer than 44.1k. Well the Denon wont read anything created with a sample rate higher than 44.1K . I downloaded a song from a DJ friend that was recorded in 48KHZ and made into a 196k MP3 file. The Denon wouldn't play it because it is not 44.1. Check your manual or check online.. the Denon reads 44.1k 320kbs and lower files only.. (Bad Denon)
You may also want to avoid what are called Variable Bit Rate files. Most files you download online are ripped at a variable bit rate. The Denon will play variable bit rate Mp3's .. But you will not be able to save cue points or save memos to the system. I found this out the hard way. So. I took all the files I had created that were VBR and put them into Audacity with the Lame MP3 plugin and set the bitrate to 320kbs and now I can save memos.. But everytime I put the USB flash drive into my pc and put new songs on I have to delete the Denon_DJ folder.. Its sad too because thats where the HS5500 stores it's playlist files... :( Bad Denon. They should have asked me to write the software.. xD
I hope that helped you..

Does not play divx/mpeg4 files on dvd disk!!

The player plays strictly DIVX files, but not variants like XVID (which today is more common since divx became not free).
Divx is actually the same than XVID. After spending days converting my files from xvid to divx, realized that changing only the FOURCC code of the files works.
Look for a program named videoinspector. It allows to edit the fourcc for a video file. for all xvid and variants change the fourcc of the files to DIVX. The change takes a second instead hours of conversion, and movies in xvid that used not to play on this device, now will be played without problems.

Can not read DivX video file

As far as I know any player that can handle divx will say on the box or in the manual, it is something that has been built into the prosseser at the factory, I have never heard of being able to update one.

DivX certified player cannot read DivX files on DVD+R

Is there a Divx logo on the player? Does this particular DVD player capable of reading DVD+R disks?

If you used the Divx converter program, there is a way to create a DVD in Divx format with menus. Did you use that particular program? If you didn't, you may have the DVD in a data format and the player can't read it that way.
