1. If there is sign of power (e.g. light is on), the heating element may be broken.
2. If there is no sign of power, check the power point (socket), iron power plug, cable and the power on switch. If everything is fine, you need to get it repaired.

Service the steam and spray mechanism:
Unplug the iron.
Use a fine sewing needle to unclog the steam valve assembly. Also, check the valve spring and replace it if it is broken or has lost tension.
If the spray pump is accessible, remove it and check for leaks by placing the spray tube in water and squirting the pump. Clean or replace as needed.
Clean a metal soleplate:
Unplug the iron.
Use a sponge and commercial soleplate cleaner or baking soda and water to remove dirt buildup on the soleplate. Rinse well with water and dry. Don't use harsh abrasives or immerse an electric iron in water.
Use very fine steel wool (0000) or an emery cloth to remove scratches and burns on the soleplate, then clean the soleplate.
The fix is easy, order the trigger that has an actuating tab that is probably broken off. Gently pry up the blue cushion from the front to the back near the cord and you will see the tab lying over the switch. I order my parts from the Rowenta Region Service Center below:
I would suggest just replacing the iron, they are not that expensive. The safety factor if a mistake is made in the repair could conceivably cost you your dwelling. Good Luck, Gilshultz
The screws holding the unit together are T-20 TORX screws; the center post makes them anti-tamper TORX screws. These screws are used in applications in which the manufacturer does not want the average consumer to attempt repairs. Please don't take this wrong, but if you have to ask about the "unusual 6-sided screw", then you shouldn't be opening the unit.
Unfortunately, when the heating element rocker switch gives out (3-4 years), it is usually about time to overhaul the entire iron (both the tank portion as well as the iron portion). Other things that can cause problems are the thermostat and the pressure actuator.
