My headset is not working

Most Dell computers have special hardware and software that are set up to automatically adjust the configuration of the headphone ports when headphones are connected, muting the primary speakers in the process. If no sound is coming out of your headphones, this is most likely caused by a configuration issue that can be resolved with a few simple steps.

Basic Headphone Troubleshooting
If no sound is coming from your headphones, confirm that the headphones work properly by using them with a different device. After this, confirm that the headphones are plugged into the proper jack. If your CD/DVD drive has a headphone jack in front, audio will only be played through this jack when you are playing a disc. On a desktop computer, the correct jack to use for headphones is usually color-coded green, while notebook computers will have headphone icons next to the correct jacks. Finally, check the speaker icon in the system tray to make sure that your sound output is not muted. b> Troubleshooting Notebooks b> Most Dell notebooks use a special type of audio jack. The jack, along with the sound drivers that are installed, automatically detect whether headphones or speakers are plugged in and adjust the sound output accordingly. If this does not happen when headphones are plugged in, the sound drivers may be at fault. Visit the Dell support website and download the most recent sound drivers for your notebook. If this does not help, some users have reported success with removing the sound drivers completely and letting Windows install generic drivers automatically. Last Resort b> If all other options have been exhausted, the last resort in troubleshooting a headphone jack is running a complete system recovery operation. This will completely erase all of the information on your primary hard drive partition and reinstall Windows along with the drivers for all of your hardware. This is an extreme measure, as you will lose all of the information that you have stored on the hard drive. However, it will resolve the issue if it is caused by a software problem. If the issue remains, the headphone jack must be replaced. Hope this helps.

Jbl 610 driver

Windows Vista should see the bluetooth headphones without any extra drivers. If you open your bluetooth options, and you can see the headphones, and it asks for a password, try 0000 or 1111.

Also - check your computer to ensure that it does have bluetooth capability. If the computer doesn't have bluetooth built in, you'll need to use the USB communicator that should have come with the headphones. If you don't have the USB stick that came with the headphones, your best bet is to contact JBL and see if they will send you a new one.

Another thing you can try, just to verify the headphones are good - is to try to sync them with an ipod or iphone and see if you can listen to music through them.

I have a Latitude D600 laptop. When I plug in my headphones, the sound still plays through the built in speakers. When I twist the plug in the jack I can sometimes get sound in the headphones but it still...

I dont think the JACK is the problem, I suspect a bad headphone wire (intermittent) or an incorrect driver, headphone jacks in laptops are software controlled, (no mechanical switch inside) if you hear sound in both the headphones and the speakes it is a driver issue, try updating the driver, if the headphone wire is erratic it can fool the software that controlls the input and do crazy things also...

Good luck!

Why does the audio cut out on acer z5700 speakers when you connect to a source at the audio output in the back.(expect this only when you connect headphones to headphone input)

When you connect headphones to your computer the computer will only send sound through the headphones and not allow sound to come out of the speakers. this is the way almost all audio drivers are setup, it detects the speakers and the headphones as 2 different devices and will only play sound through one (headphones first and if there are no headphones then speakers).

The only way I know to resolve this (and I hate this suggestion) is to purchase a headphone splitter. Connect the speakers and the headphones through the splitter, the quality of the splitter will determine the quality of the sound.

You could try going to the audio driver options (if there is any program installed by the audio driver) to see if you can get it to play through both but with both my Acer laptops I have been unsuccessful.

Hope this helps.

My Logitech headphones mic won´t work with windows xp. Can hear, don´t hear me.

Your headphone mic is all right. The problem is with the sound driver you are using. Many a time the headphone jack are not properly connected so it may be another issue for not working of your headphone. Your operating system is all right check out the sound driver setting from the control panel.
Good Luck

Dell inspiron 1520

Try uninstalling the software, then re-install it again and only plug the headphones in when asked to do so, this will enable the program to pick the headphones up and install the correct driver, if windows picks it up as new hardware and tries to install the drivers for it then it will not work correctly.

What version of vista are you using 32 or 64?
