You can try it may work
Press the down arrow four times highlight Reset Maintenance Counter and press OK. Note: The printer will require 15 minutes to warm up. Do not turn the printer off or open any doors during this time.

On the Ricoh 3713 you can do it on the main board by putting dip switch 101-1 on and then off, entering 97, and pressing the aps key. Then power cycling the printer.

The 3500 is probably similar.

SOURCE: Lexmark x642e MPF Reset maintenance counter

Hi~
You can reset the maintenance count by going to the Configuration Menu.

Step 1: Turn off your X64x printer
Step 2: Hold the 2 and 6 buttons while the printer is off
Step 3: Turn on the printer but don't release the buttons yet. Keep holding those buttons for about 10 secs
Step 4: On your Operator Panel, you should see "Configuration Menu"
Step 5: Scroll down and look for "Reset Maint Count" and select it.
Step 6: Exit Config Menu and powercycle your printer (turn it off then back on)

Hope this is helpful... =)

SOURCE: Panasonic DP-8020P Machine Maintenance count reached.

yep. as long as the print quality is good and stable, and the toner consumption is good (8K to 10K of pages per bottle) you can just reset the maintennace count at f7-03 on service mode. probably your machine count reached at 120k. :)

I have an epson artisan 710 which displays the message "a printer error has occurred. turn power off and then on again. for details, see Your documentation or epson.com." the documentation is unhelpful and...

I just had the same issue but with the 810, which is basically the same. What I had done before that happened was turn on the "Automatic Head Maintenance", then after turning on the printer again the next time the error happened always a few seconds after it started...really frustrating.

The solution was turning off the "Automatic Head Maintenance". Do this as soon as you have access to the menu, because after a few seconds it will show the error and the touch menu will not work anymore. So as soon as the touch menu shows press Setup > Maintenance >Automatic Head Maintenance and turn it off.

Please reply and let me know if it works.

I have a Lanier LP226cn printer. Under the alert status it is telling me to ''Prepare a New PCU'' and ''Replace CPU Black Soon'' I understand it means to replace my Black Toner soon as someone mentioned...

Sorry, You do not need Black toner, you need a Black PCU (Photo Conductor Unit).
I have this same printer with the same warning.
Unfortunately, This unit seems to be rather expensive.

How do I know WHICH of the ink cartridges is out?

I found this on the Epson Web Site. If you find this information helpful, pls rate me.
You can download the Reference Guide with pictures and all.

http://files.support.epson.com/htmldocs/r220__/r220__rf/index.htm

Windows
You can check the amount of ink remaining in the ink cartridges using EPSON Status Monitor 3 or the progress meter. Refer to the sections below for details.
EPSON Status Monitor 3 Access EPSON Status Monitor 3 in one of the following ways.
  • Double-click the printer-shaped shortcut icon on your Windows taskbar. To add a shortcut icon to the taskbar, see the section below.
    font26.gif See Monitoring Preferences
  • Open the printer software, click the Maintenance tab, then click the EPSON Status Monitor 3 button.
A graphic displays the remaining amount of ink.

If any of the ink cartridges installed in the printer is broken, incompatible with the printer model, or improperly installed, EPSON Status Monitor 3 will not display an accurate calculation for the amount of ink remaining in any of the ink cartridges. Be sure to replace or reinstall any ink cartridge indicated by EPSON Status Monitor 3.

Pls rate me. Thanks and Good Luck.....
