it may not have a timer but a aditive defrost control . most common with newer model .. its located in the fresh food side just behind the thempt contro knob and its a pc board .. . . do ck your heater first and the defrost terminator as thes two parts ore more common to cause your freeze up .. mm

Once you get the coils defrosted, a friend of mine said if you wrap a piece of copper wire across the two evaporator coils, and connect them, the coils will not ice up. I never tried this myself, but it might be worth trying.
