Some tissues are more sensitive to shrinking than others.
Some clothing cannot be machine washed or only at very low temperatures (hand warm).
Especially woolen fabric will shrink even at 40 degrees.
Be carefull with spinning at high RPM's.
Always consult the label in the clothing:

40 degrees celcius? If so, that's hot water.

What does Chrono 30 and mAgic 40 stand for

These are names used by Whirlpool for wash programs. Magic 40 is a 1 hour program which washes at 40 degrees, 3-4 Kg of fabrics, for heavy duty cleaning.

Chrono 30 is a short 30 minute program for lightly soiled or dusty clothes.

These seem to occur in Whirlpool machines sold in France.

Washing machine shrinking clothes on 40 degree wash

Bosch certainly believe their washer is a premium product and the price of them tends to reinforce their faith in their own opinion of their product.

Depending on the sort of deal you had when you bought the machine it could almost still be under an extended warranty. 3/4 years should be nothing for such a machine and unless it is in constant use it will be far from worn out. In average domestic usage It should easily last 8 or 9 years with any repairs in that time remaining economic unless you are particularly unfortunate

It does seem as though the thermostat is inaccurate. It might be possible to recalibrate it or it might have to be replaced. Using a modern infrared thermometer it shouldn't be difficult to check the actual temperature though a rough idea could perhaps be formed simply by hold your hand against the door. You could try washing at 30 degrees or even a cold wash and check for less shrinkage before calling the repair guy...

I have a MHWE500VW11 and I hate it! It doesn't get the clothes clean. Give me my old top loader any day. I have to over wash everything on steam clean and it's killing my clothes. I do more dry...

One thing to check is the capacity of the machine. If you used to have a top loader you may be used to packing more clothes in, and the front loader may not be able to clean the same capacity.

Your manual should indicate the maximum weight of clothes for each kind of load. For example a 40 degree mixed load should usually weigh less than a 40 degree cottons load.

If you try washing less in each load you should find your clothes get cleaner.

Ive just brought a re-conditioned bosch classixx washing machine,

boil wash the machine with old towels and powder, 90 degree wash will bring out the bleach in the powder and the old towels will throw the bleach around the tub removing the bacteria that has grown in the tub, the bacteria comes from the washing powder to eat the dirt in clothes and sometimes gets left in the tub and pipes (most people only wash at 40 degrees the bleach wont come out the powder until at least 60 degrees hence the build up and smell). you may have to do this twice to get it smelling good, remove the drawer also and clean off any bacteria with a cloth and spray bleach.

Which programme saves the most energy?

yes a quick wash is for coloured clothes that have been worn once or twice and dont have bad stains on them. This quick wash will take between 30 and 50 mins to do a wash and is the best programme for the clothing that I have discribed ie: worn 1or2 times and no stains will save you on electric and water peter
