I recently purchased 2 JBL EON 510. During an event, the HF drivers (tweeters) stop working simultaneously in the 2 speakers. Does this mean both HF Drivers are blown ? Could be a driver cable problem ?

hi,
As it hve a horn tweeter no need to replace the whole unit. You will get the diaphragm. go the following page check the third item. Its the diaphragm for JBL EON 15-G2. An the order code is
DT-004. http://www.goodhifi.com/MyDias/Diaphragms.htm
ok
These are "powered" speakers and any little bit
of distortion can be amplified enough to "blow" it!
Also the amp could be "shorted"! Have your JBL
dealer test it!!!
The tweeter is not the problem. The Eons use the vents below the tweeter to cool the amp and woofer. Sounds to me like you have a power supply problem in the amp, possibly a bad capacitor or diode. You have to check the amp for proper operation.
The JRX series have weak HF drivers, only rated for some 25 watts or so. Are you running in Bi-Amp or straight? Could be bad capacitors in the crossovers. Could also be clipping of your amp, a common cause of failure is using too small an amp and pushing it past it's clean operation limits. Speakers don't like square waves. Was the "Clipping" light flashing on the amp?
The 2 leads that come off the HF driver are different sizes...you should only be able to hook them up one way. Takes the guess work out of it for ya.
Assuming there is nothing wrong with the speaker, hooking up the 2418H HF driver to it should do the trick. However, I blew my HF driver a few months ago and bought a new one, only to blow it immediately. This was because the motherboard of the JBL EON G2 had actually failed and caused the HF driver to fail. Once I replaced the motherboard and the HF driver (again) everything was back to sounding great. Hope that helps.
I have the same problem and the same conditions.
The tweeter is good, 3.8 ohms.
Some points of solding (donuts), have bad aspect.
I resolder the power transistors to the PCB and I solve the problem.
