IF YOU ARE ALREADY STUCK: Find the tiny detention/release "button" in the grove at the back near the top of the base unit. Use a butter knife or the back of a sharp one to slide the button DOWN toward the counter (not in toward the blender blades).

None of these people understand your question. The blade assembly is stuck in the blender base and will not untwist out of the base. The sport bottle untwists off the blade assembly leaving it in the blender base. I've tried using pliers on mine after taking it apart. Something is binding it from untwisting. What is the trick to untwist the blade assembly off the blender base?
