SOURCE: We bought a Westinghouse fridge

Is it brand new if so keep pressing the lever, I have had it take minutes before the water arrives. There is a long stretch of coiled tubbing inside that the water has to pass through.

I have a side by side with water/ice dispenser. The water is dispensing but the stream is nearly non-existent.

Check the filter also look at hose that is coiled in back of fridg to see if it is kinked. lastly check filter on water feed You will have to turn water off for this There is a screen inside connector . One other possibilty is the water line tap is plugged if the tap is the kind that uses a saddle to pierce the line Back it out just a little and re-tighten

No Water going in to the fridge

Hi Norm,

Most fridges don't need a motor to run in order to dispense water. A simple on / off solenoid on the water line (same for the ice maker) that makes a click when changing from off to on and on to off is usually all anyone hears (the ice maker makes rumbling sounds and you can hear ice falling into the bin - too).

Check for ice. If it has a maker and it is making ice, the problem could be a defective water dispenser switch, solenoid or other circuit component or wire. If no ice, I'd suspect a filter or water supply issue.

Make sure the filter is fully inserted and twisted into place. Many filters have marks to align when 1) inserting and 2) to let you know when it is installed correctly. When sure it is installed correctly - try to dispense water again. Many fridges will dispense water without a filter. Check your manual before trying this though! If not working still, remove the filter and try to dispense water. If you're able to dispense water, the problem is either the installation of the filter or the filter itself. Try to re-install it correctly. Try to dispense water again.

If it still doesn't work - call the plumber back and ask why there's no water. Or - try this yourself:

Locate the point of attachment to the domestic water supply that the plumber used. There should be a valve to turn the water on and off. If off, turn ON. Try to dispense water again.

If that doesn't work - check to see if the fridge has pinched, kinked or crushed the water supply line. You may need to move the fridge forward to gain access to the water line and connection point on the fridge. Repair or replace the line as needed and route in such a way that moving the fridge in or out will not cause it to damage the line again.

Good luck!

After changing water filter in side by side fridge, dispensed water still had mold floating in it. I have flushed the dispenser extensively. Is there a way to flush this stuff out of lines after the...

first check the water inlet tap
if the water from the tap does not has moulds then your refrigerator has moulds in the water line
for this you need to dispense water regularly untill the moulds gets lesser and lesser

also observe if that mould is really a mould or something is coming off your refrigerator dispenser
could be silica from previous filter
cannot confirm unless you observe the mould.

Thanks

Fridge will only dispense 6 cups at a time?

Some fridges have a safety feature built in, which turns off water if the water valve was open for a certain number of seconds, to avoid flooding. So if you need a lot of water, make sure to release water dispenser lever for a second or two every minute.

If the above is not the case, you may need to replace the water valve or a switch on the water dispenser.
The way to find out which part needs replacement is to check the voltage on the green water valve coil when the dispenser lever is pressed but it's not dispensing water. If 110v AC is present across the coil - replace valve. If there's no 100v AC - replace switch in the dispenser. Make sure to unplug the fridge before opening the dispenser.

Good luck!

My ice maker produces ice with white flakes in it, and slowly.

If you also get the flakes with the water from the water dispenser it could be the water chiller reservoir behind the crisper in the fridge. If it's just the ice maker the non stick surface in the ice mold may be coming loose.

Water dispenser inside fridge does not dispense water

Are the water inlet / outlet correctly fitted onto the filter ??
Sounds silly - but very easy mistake seen several times.
Is the water supply for the filter turned on . . remove hoses from filter to verify. - YOU WILL GET WET.
